my mobile office in mallorca, ES

what a wonderful mobil work opportunity from the spanish holiday island mallorca 🐋🌞🍀

i used to work 1, 2 or even 3 weeks a year from premantura (istria, HR) in a 2 room appartment the last few years. this time we have decided to try the hotel cala fornells close to peguera (sometimes paguera) in mallorca, spain, ES. as my wife was already 3 times in that hotel few years ago, we knew the mobile work would function fine ...

despite plenty of work, there is still some vaccation aspect here as i can easily go to swim in the sea before breakfast, in my lunch break, after work ... i couldnt be all day at the beach, anyway. and yes, there is a weekend, too!
today (saturday) we've just visited a small beach calo d'en monjo in a forest area just 15 minutes away from our hotel. we could swim nicely as there were no motor boats almost all the time and i tried out my old snorkeling equipment. on our way back i've collected 2 bags of (mostly plastic) trash, later rested a lot. so a really nice day for a nature & environment pretection activist like me, wouldnt you say? well, for tomorrow we have booked an organized day trip to the capitol palma + to the small hills in the northwest of the island around valldemossa + to some cave ... and next weekend we will have a rental car just to visit the unesco heritage mountains of serra de tramuntana and its hills + cliffs + cities / villages liek soller, sa calobra, ...
well, looking back, the organized trip was not really nice as there was too much on the agenda. with just four instead of six topics it would be more convenient and much nicer, if they asked me .. at least we've learned a lot abt the island and the life here 😇

our mallorca stops this time:
  • cala fornells bay ~ our home base for 2 weeks
  • calo d'en monjo bay
  • peguera / paguera
  • valldemossa ~ best known as the stay for the french baroness george sand and her lover, the polish componist frederik chopin
  • suburbs of palma ~ this coffee break in a 'traditional' mallorquin coffee shop was quite stressful and not worth the time spent there as we were a bus with 30-40 people ... just the almonds there were fine ...
  • santa maria del cami ~ nothing special out there. we have just visited a weekly market. i liked more the church here
  • aristocratic family's rural house / castle els calderers from 1750 somewhere in the pampas ~ this was really great. i liked to visit this castle & museum like property a lot
  • (there was the rafael 'rafa' nadal's tennis academy in manacor, but we've just drove beside it)
  • porto cristov limestone caves
  • palma, the capital of mallorca & the baleares islands. btw, the name baleares comes from the sligshot weapon as the mallorquines were masters of throwing small stones with their ropes at their enemies ... ~ castle, old city, harbor, agricultural wind mills all over the plains around palma ...
  • ------
  • puerto andratx (or often porto andratx)
  • sant elm ~ fishermen' village
  • mirador d'en ricardo roca ~ a fast food restaurant with really bad food and fantastic view over the cliffs of the west mallorca's coast
  • deia ~ historical city full of old stonemade houses  + churches
  • port de soller
  • lighthouse far des cap gros
  • --------
  • gorg blau ~ the almost empty artificial water reservoir
  • the 682m high pass coll dels reis
  • city of soller
  • sa calobratorrent de pareis (seasonal river) in a beautiful gorge in the serra tramuntana mountains, mallorca's unesco heritage. the highest peak here is the puig major 1445m. unfortunately, this peak is not accessible for the public due to some stupid military zone / radio transmission station on its top.
