UNESCO heritage DAINTREE rainforest ~ queensland, australia

the daintree rainforest in queensland (QLD) was our first destination after we left cairns. we have spent 2 nights in a rainforest lodge in cape tribulation. this is the place where two UNESCO natural heritage areas meet: the wet tropics daintree rainforest and the marine area great barrier reef (GBR).
after approx. 10 days we came back one more time, we simply couldn't leave queensland without a detailed visit of the mossman gorge 😉.
mossman gorge
of course, it rained a lot and we have spent a lot of valuable time walking on rainforest and mangroves trails, on the beach, swum in the mossman river in the beautiful mossman gorge and in some other creek. no, we did not swim in the sea because of crocodiles and the box jelly fish. unfortunately, we didn't see a cassowary in a free nature here, but at least later at mission beach.

enjoy few pictures 😃

Cairns + Kuranda ~ Queensland, Australia

After Darwin and the Northern Territory was the northern part of Queensland (QLD) our 2nd destination in Australia. Enjoy few pictures + insights from Cairns and its northern beaches (Machans Beach, Trinity Beach, Palm Cove, Ellis Beach, ...). Then there was a day trip to Kuranda, the Barron River mouth and much more. If you asked me, the most interesting part was probably the photography book from about 1900 i've detected in our historical hotel Lilybank in Stratford (suburb of Cairns) 😃.

Unlike Darwin or the Kakadu / Nitmiluk NP the region around Cairns was much colder and quite wet even in the dry season, so warm clothes and the umbrella were our every day companions :-). Not only during the rainforest trips but almost always 💧💧.
Our 1st hotel in Cairns, Colonial Club Resort ~ highly recommended :-)
