kluczbork (kreuzburg), upper silesia, PL

at our way home from the polish baltic sea, we've visited the city kluczbork ~ kreuzburg (also creutzburg, creuzburg) in upper silesia (schlesien, slask), poland, PL

we've had lunch in the town hall's building in a historic style restaurant and then enjoyed shopping and sightseeing out there ... why town hall? i love the town halls' cellar restaurants and we've been in many different already. this time it was not in the city hall's cellar but 'just' at the ground floor, but at least it was the town hall's restaurant, wouldnt you say? ... why shopping this time? well, my wife coerced me to buy 2 jackets + 4 shirts as she thinks my clothes at home are already kaput. as we have joint accounts, it is rather a question of conviction than question of money, you see? at least we've got a nice tie for free from the pretty shop assistant 👩

what abt some history? well, there were the celts, vandals, slavic folks (esp. polish), germans, ... in 1252 bought the bohemian & austrian knights of the cross with the red star (crusaders of the red star) some lands in wrocLOVE (wroclaw, breslau) and silesia, thus is 1253 (or in some sources 1252) the year of kluczborks birth. this military order was the worldwide only male order founded by a woman, the bohemian princess holy agnes of bohemia (agnes von prag). a princess with a quite interesting CV, which tells so much abt the european medieval king families.

tczew (dirschau) + leczyca, poland, PL

on the way back from the polish baltic sea, we have visited tczew nad wisla (dierschau, zursau) an der weichsel - a city in historical western prussia (in pomerania aka pommern) in northern poland, PL. according to wikipedia, here we are 30 km from the baltic sea and 16m above the sea level. the wisla river itself is just 3m above the sea level here. nice for tczew, the folks build up a dyke (damm), so there were no floods in the recent years ... unlike the many floods in the young years of the waitress we spoke to in the riverside restaurant 😄

enjoy few pictures from this originally slavic (polish), after its conquest by the teutonic knights german and today again polish settled city, will you?

town hall + market square, leczyca

there was not much open for food at that late evening in leczyca, so we stayed in a central asian kebab house with dark statures inside and outside of it like in berlin-kreuzberg ... we were worried if this guys would steal or break our car 🚗, but nothing happened 😄. well, strange foreigners are normal in western europe these days, but not so common for poland, if you asked me ...

few more pictures here.
