markus miller: financial self-defense

what about markus miller, who was one of my favorite speakers at the precious metals show 2022? as i've seen in the article linked above, it can be no coincidence that the most slides out of all speakers i've choosen for my blog are just from markus' presentation 😎

what about his book about the financial self-defense (finanzielle selbstverteidigung), published in november 2019? as it is a kind of work book with much, much advice, links & check lists, it was not easy to read. i've needed 2+ years 😌... maybe also because due to corona lockdowns & measures i do not go to my office job that often and the underground train on my way to the office is the only place where i'm really used to read a book, you know?

well, markus miller is a well known expert on crypto & bitcoin & digitalization in german speaking countries. i even used to subscribe to his charged crypto newsletter for some time ... anyway, he is also expert on many other financial & libertarian & self-determination issues. yes, the most of his advice is directed mostly to really wealthy folks who try to pass part of their wealth outside the greedy & bureaucratic & reckless EU. the corona madness 2020-2022 has shown crystal clear that the EU does not respect basic human rights of an individual, much less the financial reserves of its citizens. most of us remember the already arranged bail-in clauses in case of a bank bankruptcies or the EU states greece and cyprus, don't we? in cyprus they've stolen their citizens all funds above 100,000 € per bank account in the so called euro greece crisis few years ago (and/or 50% of the bank funds in some other cases?) ...

anyway, also an averege tom & jerry, who just want to pass their house / appartment tax effective to their children, can learn a lot in this book ...

so let's try to mention few major topics discussed:

  • liechtenstein, a small country outside the EU where your capital is protected from the access by german (+ austrian + ...) state
  • liechtenstein's banks, investment funds, insurance policies ....
  • importance of estate planning (nachlaßplanung), advance directive (patientenverfügung)
  • legal advice in case of capital & invetstment issues
  • tax advice / legal tricks & possibilities
  • emigration to paraguay, thailand, liechtenstein, ... but he emphasizes that the "quality of life is more important than a lower tax rate". is it really? 😅
  • and much more ...

of course, even if it is obvious i should take few preventive arrangements before it is too late, it is also soooo difficult as it means to overcome my own convenience ...
