=> kittsee castle + ruins of the pottenburg castle + wine cellars in prellenkirchen, AT
~ ~ ~
what a nice stop-over in the AT-SK-border area in kittsee, federal state of burgenland, austria, AT on my way to bratislava, slovakia, SK.
i drove through kittsee (it means lake kitt) village / small-town maybe 30-50 times as it is on my way when i do not buy the highway vignette for SK. there is a petrol station, which for some reason disappointed me few years ago and thus i never went there a 2nd time. thus i never stop in kittsee for longer than a pee 😉. it has changed this time, my dears.
was the break worth the time spent there? yes, absolutely. there is a castle with one of the nicest group of figures / sculptures which holds some balconies / doors / floors i've ever seen. the castle park was also quite nice and full of slovak families with small children. well, it was on saturday. on top, there is an interesting chocolate factory with direct sales to customers in a factory outlet. on the other hand, the small church and the small city center on the main road are not nice at all ... what about the lake? yes, there is a small quarry pond / lake near the road which looks like a freshly dredged hole filled up with rain water ... it is surrounded by new fat cats family houses, a fence and a road barrier, so maybe it is some rich folks protected neighborhood today.
