partenkirchen, Ga-Pa

what a shock in garmisch-partenkirchen! ... our daughter was invited to a wedding party in garmisch, so we have spent two days and one horror night as babysitters in partenkirchen ... why a horror?

well, our 1.5 years old grandson was soooo tired in the evening that he could not sleep at all ... i was walking outside with him in a buggy for a hour to keep him satisfied ... yes, he felt asleep, but as i carried him 2 floors up to our bedroom he was awake again  ... and then he cried, cried, cried ... even walking outside or playing in my daughter's caravan with my wife and me didnt help to improve his mood a lot ...  well, at about 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. i finally went to pick-up my daughter + her husband from the party to settle our small sweetheart 💝

of course, everything else was fine ...

lets show ya few pictures which i've uploaded to my old GaPa album / blog created in february 2023 as we've celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in the hotel wittelsbacher hof, which is located directly at the partnach river which builds the border between garmisch and partenkirchen, if you asked me.

why are the no 'real life' people at the pictures? well, our daughter(s) do not wish to see their and their families pictures on the internet, you know? even if it is for me as blogger still difficult to understand, it is easy to accept in the meantime ..

what a nice view from our airbnb appartment
do the deer celebrate a wedding anniversary, too? 💞

zug, switzerland, CH

our youngest daughter works for 5 months in zurich, switzerland. thus we've enjoyed the opportunity to visit her for few days.

btw, my last visit to switzerland was in 2013 (=> pilatus, lucerne - luzern, rheinfall, schaffhausen). no wonder my CHF notes 💸 were outdated today ... and the waiter who didnt acceppt them, told me friendly i should try to exchange them in the swiss national bank (SNB). btw, the coins are still fine & valid. why? maybe because they have some inner value which paper has not? e.g. the (partly) silver 2 CHF coins from 1967 (and older) contain silver valued 7 CHF today ... of course, you will hardly ever find any of them in your pocket as everyone keeps them out of circulation 😂

enjoy here the historical city of zug + the lake zuger see => extremely low taxes, many millionaires, even more expensive than zurich. a beer 🍻 in a pizzeria costs 9 CHF vs. 7 to 8 CHF in zurich vs. 4 to 5 CHF in germany. okay, the swiss didnt take part in WWI & WWII, so none of their cities was destroyed in the last century by war and thus so most of them have nice historical centers, you know?

unlike zurich, we've had nice sunny weather today. we've enjoyed to swim in the lake and also the pictures turned out well. as all my insights are written in the blog post about zurich, here you'll find pictures. to be honest, we have spent the most time in the public bath seebad seeliken 🏊

zurich, switzerland, CH

our youngest daughter👶works for 5 months in zurich, switzerland. we've enjoyed the opportunity to visit her together with her boy-friend for few days. zürich is just 3 hours away from munich, you know? enjoy pictures from zug, CH + pictures & insights from zürich in this blog post below:

btw, my last visit to switzerland was in 2013 (=> pilatus, lucerne - luzern, rheinfall, schaffhausen). no wonder my CHF notes 💸 were outdated today ... and the waiter who didnt acceppt them, told me friendly i should try to exchange them in the swiss national bank (SNB). btw, the coins are still fine & valid. why? maybe because they have some inner value which paper has not? e.g. the (partly) silver 2 CHF coins from 1967 (and older) contain silver valued 7 CHF today ... of course, you will hardly ever find any of them in your pocket as everyone keeps them out of circulation 😂

zürich, the city of the rich, beautiful, self-confident, money-oriented folks? yes, but not only that. i've been by accident also in one another world ... at a punk / LGBTQ / refugees party in our neighborhood in an occupied house waiting to be torn down and replaced by s.th. bigger soon ... as i didnt had enough current swiss money at that time, there was a unknown lady who has paid the entry fee of 20 CHF for me at that club like / half private party without knowing me. she even refused to take any euros instead. maybe she loved my soccer-like dress 'team world peace 01'? or me? or was that really a community where the people believe it isnt nice to not let someone in only because he/she doesnt have any money? what do you think? 💚😇🍀

unlike germany and eastern europe, in switzerland there is an active + noticeable jewish community.

did we left s.th. for our next visit? yes, of course. we plan to go to the top of the (small) uetliberg hill (870m) to enjoy the view over zurich and all the surrounding lands & lakes. next to the landesmuseum castle & museum close to the main train station. and i will personally try to find out if the swiss earned their conspicuous wealth after WW II by stealing some of the the deposited and never recalled money from european jews, german nazis, oligarchs & dictators and the like? or did they reach it more likely in some honest way by making business instead of wars and huge military spendings? who could help me with any reliable opinion?😇

btw, we didnt have had a nice weather, so all the pictures are somehow rainy & grey, you know? and we didnt swum in the lake züricher see either as both of us were a little bit sick and suffering some slight flu infection ...
