devil's head aka teufelstättkopf 1758m ~ ammergauer alpen / alps

what a nice day with my father 😍 ~ a really, really beautiful winter hiking tour to teufelstättkopf 1758m + pürschling 1566m in the ammergauer alpen / alps.

we've started in unterammergau and in the beginning spiraled upwards through the canyon schleifmühlenklamm. there was a sharpening stone (wetzstein) production for hundreds of years before, you know? then we walked through a forest, snowy meadows and at the end there was a short and easy via ferrata (klettersteig) which could amateurs like us pass without any equipment and finally reached the summit cross after 3.5 hours. the view from the peak and especially the dreamlike inversion (~ warm and sunny weather above the clouds, cold wet weather below us in the valley) was our reward for all effort undergone 🌄⛄🌞

unterammergau ~ pürschling ~ teufelstättkopf ~ ettal

well, after visiting beachy head few weeks ago, today we have climbed up the devil's head :-)

started from unterammergau, moved in 2 hours on to püschling cottage (1565 m) where we have had a nice sunny lunch with local bavarian brass band, finally took next 30 - 40 minutes on teufelstättkopf (1758 m), back to unterammergau and dinner in ettal ... beautiful day in the alps
