benediktbeuern abbey + southernmost part of lake starnberger see

munich has many nice facets. one of them is definitely the fact that it is close to beautiful lakes and the bavarian alps. enjoy few pictures (+ insights?) from our day trip to the southernmost part of the lake starnberger see and to the nice benediktbeuern abbey.
southern lake starnberger see at seeseiten + seeshaupt
creek seeseitenbach enters the lake
there is a nice castle too ... probable private as there was no road / path to access it
this boat house / summer house also belongs to the castle
guest house gasthaus seeseiten and some history of the area

let's move further to the south ~ let's visit the really old monastery in benediktbeuern (was benediktbeuren the former name?)
benediktbeuern abbey (kloster benediktbeuern) was built approx. in the years 725/728. only few years later in 1739 it became the monastery of the benedictine order. in 1803 it was confiscated by the bavarian state and today is it a monastery of the Salesians of Don Bosco

 dinner time. the food was really cheap. anyway, it is really pity that it 1925 they've closed the old brewery and they sell munich's beers today

to be honest, i was impressed by the collages by thomas bischoff ~ collagen 2002 - 2019

~~~
time to swim? nope, after i went up to the knees and i had to go really far as the water here at st. heinrich is unbelievable shallow, i came out without swimming this time :-)
