benediktbeuern abbey + southernmost part of lake starnberger see

munich has many nice facets. one of them is definitely the fact that it is close to beautiful lakes and the bavarian alps. enjoy few pictures (+ insights?) from our day trip to the southernmost part of the lake starnberger see and to the nice benediktbeuern abbey.
southern lake starnberger see at seeseiten + seeshaupt
creek seeseitenbach enters the lake
there is a nice castle too ... probable private as there was no road / path to access it
this boat house / summer house also belongs to the castle
guest house gasthaus seeseiten and some history of the area

let's move further to the south ~ let's visit the really old monastery in benediktbeuern (was benediktbeuren the former name?)
benediktbeuern abbey (kloster benediktbeuern) was built approx. in the years 725/728. only few years later in 1739 it became the monastery of the benedictine order. in 1803 it was confiscated by the bavarian state and today is it a monastery of the Salesians of Don Bosco

if i was a bird 😄

 dinner time. the food was really cheap. anyway, it is really pity that it 1925 they've closed the old brewery and they sell munich's beers today

to be honest, i was impressed by the collages by thomas bischoff ~ collagen 2002 - 2019

~~~
time to swim? nope, after i went up to the knees and i had to go really far as the water here at st. heinrich is unbelievable shallow, i came out without swimming this time :-)
more pictures from today here.
for more pictures of lake starnberger see:
trijunction DE / AT / CZ
we are quite often in the trijunction DE / AT / CZ, you know? we usually sleep in the hotel alte innbrücke (old river inn bridge) in neuhaus am inn because it is close to our final destination, cheap and they have a very good wlan connection so that i can work mobile while my wife is busy with other stuff. even if the breakfast could be much better, i feel there meanwhile so familiar that this time i even went for breakfast in my pyjama, only completed by a sweater 😄
DE / AT / CZ = germany / austria / czech republic
of course, it is for us always more and more difficult to discover new things in the area .... this time we were lucky and could visit the vornbach castle which was the former vornbach abbey till 1803, the year where bavaria confiscated clerical property. how did we find it? easy, last time i could recognize a nice old building at the flyer of the inn river cruises, so my plan was ready to become reality today.
view from our hotel room's balcony (DE) to schärding (AT)
 mobile work paradox => the car stands still and i work on my laptop in the hotel room 😄. there are not many mobile workers out there, are they?
inn river used to be an important transport vein for many hundred years, today it is not. they'e have built 6 - 8 power plants in its last section before it enters the danube river in nearby passau.
