well, the next year of the munich mining conference aka rohstoffmesse aka edelmetallmesse is over. i was on the 2nd day, saturday afternoon, i liked its location, the motorworld münchen areal with all these presented mostly private sport cars like ferrari, bugatti, maserati, mclaren, lotus, morgan, rimac, ford mustang, porsche, mercedes + of course, my employer BMW, ... and also some funny + many historical ones ... the most valuable of them in glass garage slots or behind a partitioning fence, .... so i enjoyed to walk around and look at all that beauty after the fair ... well there are cafes, restaurants, few shops like model cars + some electronical games as well and there was a nice christmas market outside ...
was the location and the event itself also good for the mining companies, which after all pay quite a lot of money for the booths and thus make the mining show possible? most likely not. there are far too few visitors, if you asked me. on top, like already last year in the olympia park, there was not a single sign outside the building and even nothing at the stairs up to the mining conference area, so that visitors would easily ind it. it is quite far away from the center too, so not really easy to reach. well, i'm not sure in city center would came significantly more visitors, because minig + exploration + the whole raw materials business is imho something for gold bugs + special kind of investors only, not for the whole investment community. also the key note speakers were just 2nd or even 3rd class guys, there were no world wide known guru like analysts, books + newsletter writers, investors, mining experts like in the previous years till 2022 ...
there was s.th. good too: i liked the idea that if you speak to a mining / exploration company and collect at least 5 stamps, you take part in a lottery and the prices were realy nice: 5 books + 10 one silver ounce coins (they cost aprox 65 EUR) + 5 bigger silver coins in a wooden box thus most likely 5 oz coins (320 eur) + 5 golden swiss 10 SFR vreneli coins (440-500 euro). a funny anecdote at the end? at the booth of my favorite company out there, we have collected 5 stamps of their fellow exhibitor which i have gave the 17th years old son of an fellow investor and you know what? this card won 1 oz silver coin and he was so really happy abt that 😂
well, when here, i've bought two small silver coins at a bullion dealer's desk, met few guys i know for years, both fellow investors and mining companies CEOs + other representatives i know from the previous events like the jack stoch of globex mining ... so it is always nice to come to the mining conference for me, you know?
there were 7 companies i have already in my portfolio among the almost 50 exhibitors:
- globex mining (GMX:TSX) => imho still a really undervalued company with enough cash, no debt, a waste amount of mining properties for diverse metals in north america, already quite few royalty streams which provide some cash flow, ... => i've almost tripled my investment which i've started via my major investment account 17 years ago and subsequently increased from time to time => [my average share price is 0.77 CAD, current price is 2.10 CAD]. btw, i have few more globex shares in a different bank account which i've heavily used till 2008 with smaller amount available when i was young. my dears, i apologize, but i'm both, too lazy and more important too tired in order to look it up now ... ohhh, i thought my old investment will be at significantly lower price, but it wasnt. my average there is approx 1.50 CAD per share. let's not speak abt globex's 0% dividend policy + inflation + CAD/EUR rate since 2008 yet, my dears
- starcore international mines (SAM:TSX) => gold + silver producer in mexico with higher production volumes coming soon. the current P/E ratio for Q2/2026 is 2.66 when the information in my broker's app is correct, so i'm confident that with the hopefull soon rising Au+Ag prices will that investment return in the profit zone => [my average price 0.81 CAD, current price 0.27 CAD]
- PTX metals (PTX:TSX-V) => they've 1 copper + 1 gold project in ontario, canada => [my average price 0.103 CAD, current price 0.065 CAD]
- royal road minerals (RYR:TSX-V) => explorer company with properties in colombia + saudi arabia + morocco (copper) => i did not invest in royal road directly, there was a failed company tigris resources which after bankruptcy changed to royal road. thx goodness, it was just a small initial position which is worth almost nothing today => [my average price 11.42 CAD, current price 0.185 CAD]
- altamira gold (ALTA:TSX) => they've been there and i wanted to stop by, but i've somohow missed their corridor & booth .... well, i'll look up their recent development on the internet ... i did! heaven & hell! i've lost already more than 90% of my money invested with their gold + copper exploration in western brasil and it was not that small share like the royal road one above 😱 => [my average price 2.06 CAD, current price 0.19 CAD]
- international tower hill (ITH:TSX) => they've left the conference before i could speak to them
- first mining gold (FF:TSX-V) => they've left the conference before i coud speak to them
well, when i would manage to reduce my other positions i currently hold on margin till the end of the year, i would increase my stake in globex & starcore for sure and most likely a little bit in PTX as well 😇
