winter hiking tour at spitzingsee, BY

the 1st winter hiking tour of the season at lake spitzingsee. this time i was joined by my father (almost 77 years old) who is my guest in munich right now.

this tour was easy and short, maybe 1,5 hours up the hill from spitzingsee (1,084m) via untere firstalm cottage (1,320m) to suttenstein pass (1,398m). but yes, the last few hundred meters through knee high snow from the firstalm were not easy at all, my dears ⛄

we like the bavarian alps in the lake spitzingsee area a lot. we have been at the nearby rotwand (1884m) in summer, you remember?

rotwand 1884m

gruber generations goes hiking. the goal today? the rotwand (= red wall) peak 1884m in the beautiful bavarian alps. well, my father is 76 and still strong enough to:

travel all the way from bratislava (pressburg) to munich
accomplish the 5.5 - 6.5 hours round trip with approx. 1,000 metres in height

after a short break at lake schliersee we could easily reach the hikers' parking slot at the old stone church above the lake spitzingsee. our tour? here we go: lake spitzingsee, pfanngraben valley, blecksteinhaus, waitzinger alm, rotwandhaus 1737m, rotwand 1884m, back to the lake spitzingsee, swimming in spitzingsee 🏊

i was so proud of my father that i made a corresponding status post at whatsapp, so all my friends can see how far we came today 💖
