SICILY ~ ETNA volcano, 3345m

after 1 week in the syracuse area, we  moved to the north in order to come closer to the mount ETNA VOLCANO (Ätna). we have stayed 3 nights on a orange / lemon farm close to san marco village (district calatabiano) in the messina province of sicily. we liked our hosts, our apartment in an 100+ years old wine production building and also the possibility to move freely in the garden + farm ...

 the (stone) beach in san marco was not nice and also the sea was somehow too wild + the waves too big in order to really enjoy swimming there

there was a small eukalyptus forest out there

there was still some snow from the south side in early june

there are about 300 craters at the etna 

it was so interesting to see how the nature starts to flourish on the lava floor

lanzarote

what a nice week at lanzarote, canary islands, spain 😄

we have spent 1 week of of summertime in retired people paradise (or was it just retired people season?) in hotel lanzarote village in playa del carmen at the los pocilos beach.

well, these small volcanic island is very, very dry and i wouldn't like to live here all year long, but we have seen many different countrysides and liked its austere beauty and nice warm wheater a lot. next positive suprise was the great infrastructure and the so well signed touristic point of interest :-)
