grubers at grubsee (+ at lake barmsee, too)

what a nice break on our way to south tirol at the south bavarian lakes grubsee + barmsee near krün and mittenwald at the german-austrian border (bayern - tirol).

especially the lake grubsee (unfortunately not grubersee 😂) was a real adventure for us. well, we have originally planned to stay only for a short swimming break and decided NOT to buy a ticket for the lake resort swimming area. it was really not easy to access the lake free of charge, especially because i walked almost all summer barefoot. of course, we have enjoyed also the walk around the lake after swimming naked in the 'backyard' of this beautiful and quite warm lake :-)
lake grubsee, the opposite site of its beach & kiosk area.
it is not easy to reach the lake without a ticket 😄

the adjacent lake barmsee (view from the south) was our stop at the way back from south tirol

the wild from lake wildensee

after visiting the karwendel (2385m)the leutascher canyon (wetterstein massif?) and the city of mittenwald, we have moved to the other side of the city ~ the hoher kranzberg (1391m) area for easy hiking and late october swimming in ice cold lake wildensee in the wallgau area of the bavarian alps😄

leutascher geisterklamm

when in mittenwald or somewhere in the karwendel massif, don't forget to visit the leutascher geisterklamm. it is a beautiful small canyon crossing the border between germany and austria. you can access it from both sites (either from mittenwald/germany where the the nice waterfall and a cheap bavarian pub is or from leutasch/austria and you need approximately 1 hour in one direction and could return back through the forest maybe in 30 minutes. or just walk back the same and much nicer 'heaven path' as we did :-)

karwendel massif in the bavarian alps + mittenwald + 3 beautiful lakes

ferchensee + the wetterstein massif behind it

a buddy of mine told me this weekend is the last warm sunny time of this year and if we believe in maya calender or in destructive power of the u.s. army then probably forever ... so yes, we have spent a nice day in the beautiful bavarian alps, in the mittenwald region ...

well, we have seen the karwendel massif, 3 mountains lakes (schmalensee, lautersee, ferchensee), spent some time in the mountain village mittenwald and eat one of the best ice creams in our lives in the italian cafe over there ... but you know what? do not remind me on our way back, we have spent at least an hour in traffic jam ... maybe because many other folks had the same idea as we have had :-)

mittenwald + the karwendel massif behind it

hell, a picture says more tham thousand words, so let's move to the PICTURES (few initial pics already online, few more + my blah-blah coming soon, promised :-)

and yes, if you want to enjoy more of the beautiful bavarian countryside, just visit my old 'sightseeing' blog post HERE :-O)
