eat, drink, sleep, eat, drink, sleep, eat, drink, ... 😄

when visiting family in poland, you have to eat a lot, especially at xmas, my dears :-)

the nicest shopping center in the world i have ever seen = manufaktura / manufa (more pictures). this time we decided to meet friends in its beer drinking temple with own brewery, the bavarian style pub bierhalle

any additional insights? yep, poland is not the cheap cheap country it used to be, many prices are very similar to prices we have in germany. we have been just 1 week here this time, so i couldn't see much economic change or much improvement since our last visit, but lets mention one very important issue to us: finally there is a new autobahn around the city of wroclaw, it always has been a nightmare to move forward through the old city roads paved with cobbles ... at least one positive and lasting impact of the european soccer championship which took place in poland and ukraine this summer ;-)

anyway, the shops + pubs + restaurants are full of people buying stuff, eating + drinking + laughing, the cinema we have been was almost empty .... let's hope the polish economy will develop fine and so will my recent polish investment, the copper + silver producer KGHM

a) bayern münchen's UEFA champions league cup? lets hope so, than the finals take place tomorrow in munich, bayern münchen against chelsea london => go bayern go :-)

b) BMW AGM on wednesday ~ my employer lives in the best of all world, you know? 2011 was the year of records for BMW: most cars sold, highest revenues, highest profit, highest dividend ... and yes, 2012 seems to became the year with highest salary for me as well ... hell, i like that bonus payments, so i can afford vacation + to buy some additional mining stocks :-)

c) wacker AGM on wednesday ~ 2011 was not a nice year for wacker chemistry ~ the blood bath in the photovoltaic sector hit the producer of wafers, polysilicon, base chemistry quite hard ... especially the margins crumbled due to the recent oversupply (especially from china) ... but remember, the solar energy is not death (in fact, it is rising steadily), only few solar energy equipment producers are death and few others trying to survive :-(

unfortunately, bayern lost against chelsea in penalty shooting after the regular game and the overtime ended 1 : 1 ... soooooo sad that they have not utilized their many chances in the game (even 1 penalty failed approx 10 minutes before the end of the overtime) ... poor bayern münchen, they have been a better team today and so close to the success ... anyway, congratulations to chelsea london ...

next visit by my wife's family in lodz + warsaw / warszawa :-)

well, this time i somehow felt poland is not progressing in the right direction ...  why? hmmmm, maybe because of the sooooo saaaad weather out there: cold, rainy, dusty, ... the traffic was worse than usual, especially few roads in lodz were a nightmare => the holes out there are like craters (our poor old car ;-) .... and there are still no really fast roads ... even the highways are not  fast cos of missing emergency line (wroclaw - dresden) or cos of construction 'driven' pile-ups (40 minutes stop and go in the direction warsaw - katowice) ... folks, i was so unconcentrated that at one point in that 'drive' ive forgot to pull the hand brake and crashed in the standing car behind me => WTF! a ludicrous accident on a highway by moving backwards? well, thx goodness nothing happened to me and also nothing to the unknown fellow slovakian pick-up driver behind me, so i just said sorry and could continue without any health / police / car insurance / monetary issues => OMG, OMG, OMG :-)

btw, dont ask me abt the (medieval?) cobbled pavement in the streets of wroclaw either ;-( ... just 2 make sure, it is not a special case of bad luck, my dear. all other 'fast' intercity roads are every few minutes / meters intercepted by traffic lights and pedestrian crossings with accordingly reduced speed + vast number of radars, so ive indeed learned what snail pace stands for, u know?

any signs of coming european soccer championship in summer? nil return ...
