lienz, tirol, austria, AT

our stop-over #4 in lienz, austria after izola, slovenia + udine, italy + plöckenpass AT-IT border at our way from istria, croatia back home to munich was meant only as a fast break for lunch.
finally we liked this old medieval city surrounded by beautiful alps in eastern tirol so much, that we spent many hours walking up and down in its beautiful streets, admired all these many nice fountains 😇

plöckenpass (passo di monte croce carnico), IT-AT border

stop-over #3 (after izola, slovenia + udine, italy) at our way home from istria, croatia was a nice hiking tour at the austrian-italian-border at plöckenpass (passo di monte croce carnico) close to paluzza with a starting point at 1357m. it was cold and really nice. we stayed all time from the italian side of the border and yes, we did not visit the WWI war museum. the bunkers + the shooting ranges along the hiking path out there were bad enough for us pacifists 😇

udine, italy, IT

enjoy few pictures + insights from udine (udin, videm, weiden) aka our wonderful stop-over #2 at our way from the croatian istria back home to germany.

just in case you've forgot, the stop-over #1 was in izola (isola), istria, slovenia. the #3 at plöckenpass in the mountains at the italian-austrian border. the #4 in lienz, kärnten, AT and the #5 in the famous ski resort kitzbühel, tirol, AT. don't worry, we still managed to arrive in munich in just 2 days 😄🚗🍀

our highlights? the city center, castle, piazza libertà and loggia di san giovanni with its amazing bell + clock tower, beautiful sunset + mountains on the horizon, gay marriage at castle hill with very good DJ + nice love songs ... yes, we've listened for a while, intense night life as the whole city center turned into a huge street bar + restaurant in the evening, austrian tourists in our 'interesting + bad breakfast' 1 night hotel quo vadis who came to watch a soccer game to this northern italian city, ... i feel we love italia 😉
