trijunction DE-AT-CH at lake constance aka bodense => forget all these borders, countries, currencies, divisions and all these 'devide & conquer' strategies, my dears. they exists just in our heads, if you asked me. it is one world, one lake and we are one human family, you know? 😃
just to make the story complete, we have not been forced to show any passport / document when crossing the borders of austria / germany / switzerland / germany by car and ferry ship .... and yes, besides german, the #2 language spoken around was russian ... even the waiter from turkmenistan in one of the lake side restaurants in friedrichshafen, who worked just his 2nd day out there, spoke russian to us as my badly dusted school russian was still better than his german 😂. btw, the boss told us, in 2 weeks will that boy be able to communicate without any problems at the easy restaurant language level ... i'm pretty sure he will. he was a friendly open minded type of person as far as i could appraise ...
what were the milestones at our one-world-3-countries-4-days-1-language-lake-constance-bodensee- yourney?
- friedrichshafen, germany, DE ~ our base camp this time. all insights in the linked blog
- bregenz + the pfänder mountain, austria, AT ~ we've made almost the same pictures this time like in 2014 and we've rested also in the same chalet. why? even if the food is not any special in this kiosk-like chalet, the view from its terrace down the hill at the lake is amazing ... there were just TWO differences compared to february 2014: we haven't any snow today and we took the cable car to go up. yes, we are getting older ... and lets hope also wiser, dont we? 😜
- wasserburg, DE ~ here i've filled up this big water pond with water i've brought from munich as the water level here is currently 1.5 - 2m below its normal mark despite the fact that it is still the snow melting period in the alps
- schloss montfort castle in langenargen, DE looks like the miramar castle in italy, IT
- all these apple tree farms and wineyards around the lake + its backyards remainded me at south tirol, italy, IT
- tettnang castle, DE ~ we've lived in the tettnanger street in munich 25 years ago
- waldburg castle (= forest castle), DE ~ the most challenging chapter of our trip for me. why? they've cut-off all the forest around the castle 😓. why? one employee at the ticket center told us it was in order to present the castle nicer to the incoming tourists ... so stupid and so unbelievable! ... does someone know if it is really true?
- ostrich farm in waldburg, DE
- ferry to + the city of romanshorn, switzerland, CH
- city of immenstaad, DE
- city of ravensburg, DE at our way home
- lunch in a wine bar in a historical timber-framed building from 1663 in bad waldsee, DE at our way home
