Qatar, QA, January 2024

my qatar experience = 5 days off at the persian gulf after 2 weeks of our nepal round trip.

doha, qatar ~ all in one 😊
energy related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per capita in 2022
(source: german governmental statistics here)

as it worked that well for my nepal blog, lets start also here with my mobile phone notes πŸ˜‡:

[ ] what could i say about that rich land (oil+gas) with the highest CO2 emissions per capita in the world after 5 days spent in its capital doha?

[ ] well, it is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than nepal, which we've visited the last 2 weeks

[ ] here in qatar (katar) is everything so new, modern, clean, 24h ctvv surveilance all over the place in doha, even at the beach. at least it is also save, even for women at night

[ ] they've huge scyscrappers, modern technology, huge cars and highways, cheap and modern autonomous operating metro trains (no driver inside) with VIP aka 1st class + family waggons. the underground is lightened also all way between the stations + the metro has a glass barrier where a door opens only if the train arrived => unlike in munich, there is no opportunity for suicide victims to jump in front of a rolling up train πŸš†πŸš‡

[ ] still much connection to the soccer world championship 2022, although the most stadiums are not used any more

[ ] exploited nepalese workers we have met in qatar and in the airplane to kathmandu. the less lucky of these workers often earn just 250€ per month net (= 272 USD = 1,000 QAR, qatari riyal) and sleep in a room with 4-5 other workers and get only 300 QAR for food on top and are transported to their work each day and have often already paid their strange agencies 1,000 - 2,000 EUR for qatari work permit in the first place and so on πŸ˜•

[ ] expensive luxury hotels (250+ USD per night) and appartment houses (5,000+ USD per month), gardening expo 2023, asian soccer cup, venetian quarter 'qanat quartier' with canals + taxi boats (no, they dont have the italian gondolieris). you can buy here an appartment (for millons of dollars?) and became a qatari resident in 1 day. out of 3m inhabitants are 80+% foreigners from egypt, tunisia, india, sri lanka, nepal, philliphines, uganda, kenia, ... who serve the qataris + the mostly european tourists and businessmen. heaven & hell beware the qataris of revolution carried out by their slave army!

[ ] the public transport, gas, food + drinks are much cheaper than in germany. only alcohol is expensive and allowed just in hotels and similar locations, which is no surprise for a muslim country.

[ ] they consume a lot a sugar out there! there is sugar in salads, in lassi (milk), grassini like bread sticks ... well, almost everywhere ...

[ ] it was easy to move around as there are so many service employees down the road and english is spoken more often than arabic, if you asked me

[ ] we did not manage the half day camel riding & stars watching trip to the qatar - saudi arabia border in the south, where the inland (salt) seas are. why not? my wife was still not 100% fine after her lumbago issues and we decided to watch the stars next time when in egypt

[ ] my over all impression abt this former pearl diving land? it feels somehow unreal, lets call QATAR DISNEYLAND πŸ˜ƒ⚽️πŸ€πŸš˜

good-bye, qatar ...

of course, qatar reminds in many ways of the similar rich dubai emirate. so lets try to revive my dubai 2012 memories.

the first will be the last and the last ...

folks, the winners will be the losers and the losers will be winners? or is the saying the other way round? who cares? i can tell you, in the financial markets ('financial casino') is luck and bad luck often close to each other, you know?

well, after the break-even success 2 weeks ago as the crude oil rallied like crazy, there was a really tough time for my trading account ... today there is a new winner, a true hero for 1 day, the natural gas contract :-) .... and yes, oil is the only loser ... hell, hell, hell, trading is a damned crazy game, wouldn't you say? and yes, it makes fun if successful :-), but
go commodities go  ... and especially go gold/silver bugs go and let's CRASH the fraudulent fiat money game played by banksters, our corrupt governments and their small dirty central banks NOW :-)
paper money down, commodities up, chakka :-)

btw, did i tell you i have exchanged next part of my paper €uros into silver-ETF shares today? of course, i know silver-ETF is not the same as silver, but hopefully is a paper backed by silver still  better than paper backed by nothing like our ever so stable euros, dollars, yens, ...  so in case the fiat money really crashes while i'm in malaysia, the silver-ETF could still quote the price of silver in the new currency :-)

addendum 31.07.2012: all yesterday's profit gone today ... commodities down, paper money up ... what a strange financial world ;-)

break-even :-)

again above my entry level of 2,000 €uros ... and the oil is the hero of the day and together with gas also the hero of the week :-)

OMG, it became even better later on and now after i'm back from beergarden my account is up more than 17% today for a new high water mark, chakka ;-)

well, my trading re-start in may was described with all crazy details HERE and if you want to know why i have quit a year ago after almost 7 years of almost daily effort go here :-)

donner metals + donnybrook energy

zinc + gas? how does that fit 2gether? well, the CEO dave patterson presented his 2 companies donner metals + donnybrook energy in munich 2day ... (pls follow that links for more details abt my perspective on these companies from former investor presentations ;-)

any news? well, the outlook for donner metals is great cos they are much closer to production of Zn / Cu / Ag / Au in quebec / canada as they have been at dave's last visit. nevertheless their share price collapsed in the recent market correction as if there were no tomorrow, hmmmm ... on top we will prolly see collapsing zinc output from existing mines, so we just have to get the demand side of the supply & demand pattern correctly in order to predict future zinc prices, true? .... btw, donner's production will replace the mill feed from an old xstrata's mine which is going out of production in late 2012 / early 2013 ... well, now u know why is xstrata zinc canada (65%) the major partner of donner (35%) in that promising project :-)

what abt donnybrook? hmmm, i had to leave early 2day cos i had a meeting in my office job which i couldnt reject or shift to a later time, so i just catched some of dave's explanations abt the energy + gas markets and abt new gas drilling methods in general, but not much abt the company itself ... i even dont know when should some drill results etc come out and im too lazy to move 2 their website for some update on operations ... but who cares? at the current low low low gas prices they should better keep their gas under the ground, shoudnt they?

u know what? the other folks out there told me that unlike 2008 there is a lot of money in the markets waiting for places to go in .... and yes, a debt financing (fixed rates for some time) is more popular than equity financing (private placements of new shares etc) ... hmmmm, strange, isnt it?  ... even AFTER the crash in the resource sector are the investors scared to invest, hmmmmm ...

Donnybrook Energy

source: www.donnybrookenergy.ca

next investor lunch event 2day ~ Donnybrook Energy Inc ~
well, the donnybrook story was presented by both the donnybrook and donner metals director dave patterson => #jarobuys few more donner shares 2day cos they are still cheap like an unwanted pet => that investment stuff is as easy as that

btw, what do these irish sounding guys do? also easy! theyve acquired a big land package in alberta / canada and now they look for some major gas & oil discovery.

folks, i didnt buy any initial position in donnybrook yet cos the stock tripled since august and thus appears somehow 2 expensive 4 me, u know? well, was prolly a mistake cos the donnybrook rallied +9.76% 2day

... just came back from a short walk through snowy streets .... u know what? no experiments this time! lets stick 2 strategy which guided me soooo well this year => lets make some small pilot buy 2morrow (gonna place a buy order at 2days closing quote CAD 0.45) + apply 4 companys newsletter + start 2 follow donnybrooks development .... and yes, lets buy few shares of their drilling partner cequence energy as well ;o))

bought some more natural gas ... and sold orange juice

folks, i've increased my long position just now a little bit at $3.69 ... it's still cheap enough, isn't it?
it quotes @ $3.64 now, my next buy limits are set to $3.33 and $3.13, but i do not really think we will see that price again ... [30 minutes later] ... folks, it's soooo late in munich, i'm going to bed now, gas quotes @ $3.69 as the USD is falling against the €UR slightly and all (so early) traded commodities (gold, silver, oil, gas, ...) are slighlty rising in their USD notations... do u call that a zero-sum-game 4 europeans, don't u?

btw, i would like to buy also wheat @ about $500 - $530, but (for my security needs) my trading account is not capitalized accordingly, so let's stick 2 silver, o-juice, gas + coffee ...

ps: got some orange juice & coffee today?

addendum december 7, 2009: natural gas is +8.31% today ... read my 2 happy comments below :-)

pps: update march 17, 2010: #jarosells orange juice (or see comment #3 below)
