searching for a grave in eastern slovakia, SK

well, it was a sad reason for my visit in slovakia this early april .... my youngest brother + me went to einsiedel an der göllnitz (mnisek nad hnilcom) to find a place for my mother's grave ... but yes, it is the traditional cycle of life, isnt it? young people come, old people  go ...

the cold + rainy + snowy weather and my sad mood somehow directed my focus on ugly / destroyed / industrial stuff / ruins / death / false values (like the nasty communist propaganda in my old 1st class schoolbook) and the like ... a strange different perspective, isn't it? anyway, it did not last forever 😇

on the road. we've just crossed the hill over the stoss spa to enter 'our' göllnitz river valley

all hallows in SK

my last visit to slovakia was a sad one. let's come back for all hallows again. well, all hollows is maybe the only remaining custom in our wider family, where we come together easily at our family graves at the cemetery (archaic called totengarten by the locals) in einsiedel an der göllnitz / eastern slovakia / SK. all other occasions like easter, christmas, birthdays, final study degree celebrations take nowadays usually place in smaller circles. so what is still left over?

  1. weddings
  2. baptisms (taufe) => this category seems to disappear, too
  3. round birthdays => already much more quiet as it was 20-30 years ago
  4. funerals

yes, this chronology is also important. according to my age, our family is in the last i.e. 4th category right now. you could say, it is sad, couldn't you? but no, it isn't. it's just the carrousel of life. do not forget, we have had 'our time' already earlier 😇. i could not say i would regret a lot. of course, there were issues i would try to solve / handle different if i've got the chance again ... but the really important stuff like marriage / children / studies / job / etc. were a really nice experiences, you know?

now enjoy few pictures, this time also many paintings & grafitti i liked that much. pictures order? bratislava = > kosice => spa trencianske teplice (, where my wife stayed for 3 nights and i drove further to eastern slovakia) => einsiedel (= mnisek) => ruines of the beckov castle 🌐

my brother's home in bratislava (pressburg) is usually my 1st stop in slovakia, but this is the bratislava castle as seen by the slovak author / artist lukazuz, source here 😃
