schloss schildau, schlesien, PL

our 2nd stopover on the way from munich (DE) to lodz (PL) after karlsbad (CZ) was the wojanow castle (schloss schildau, palac wojanow) in lower silesia (schlesien, slask) in poland (polen, polska), PL. we love this area in the trijunction CZ-PL-DE, in you remember? 

there are at least two interesting stories to tell:

1. by a mistake i'have booked two rooms for the same day (!!!). the 1st one in the middle of november, the 2nd in early december ... and the annulation fee (storno) at booking.com is 100% => 😱😱😱
2. there is a 2nd nice hotel lomnica castle (schloss lomnitz, palac lomnica) only some 200m-300m away. the two castles (parks) are divided only by the small bober river (bobr). yes, it is really small today ... but aprox 1-2 months at the heavy rains in south-west poland it indeed flooded the castles cellar, so the winery was closed and machines run day and night in order to dry the rooms out there

karlsbad, unesco heritage spa, CZ

what a wonderful stopover in karlsbad (karlovy vary) on our way to lodz (PL). if i remenber that correctly, in 2021 were 11 european spa cities declared as unesco heritage. three of them are located in the former german settled areas in the north-western czech republic, CZ. we have visited franzensbad (frantiskovy lazne) last winter as i've managed to work online abroad for a week there ... and marienbad (marianske lazne) in 2015. but karlsbad is even more special 😀

.... many russians (mostly russians living in nearby germanny?) maybe because the russian czar also visited karlsbad 100+ years before? there also was a beautiful russian orthodox church out there ... many ukrainians as service personnel in restaurants + hotels ...  both, the russians and ukrainians don't seem to have any special problems with each other ...
