braunau am inn, austria, AT

after the highway from the german side was drawn from munich almost to the austrian border at the inn river at braunau few years ago, i usually use this shortest way to pressburg, slovakia even if there is a huge part from the austrian side without a highway. and yes, especially the border control at braunau is faster than the border control when coming back from SK + AT to DE via salzburg

yesterday i just wanted to look up few old pictures abt braunau, but i couldnt find that pictures i was thinking of ... well, i've had to go back in time and found a trace about our short trip for dinner in braunau at our way back from all hollows in slovakia in november 2022.  .,,,  so i've uploaded the braunau pictures from june 2020 and november 2022 today😄

enjoy few views of (hitler's birth city) braunau am inn in austria (AT) below. well, i remember a yellow picture from his birth house with a huge stone from the concentration camp mauthausen in front of it my parents made some 30 years ago. i'm not going to search for it in my albums with paper photographs before the digital era begun ... as far as i know his birth house was later destroyed and the rock removed in order not to support any kind of nazi tourism. if interested, you'll find such pictures on the internet if you asked me ...

hof, bavaria, BY

our lunch break on the way back home from poland in the city of hof was really disappointing for me. why? well, i thought, a bavarian city at the saale river, which is so close to both, the border of thuringia and the border of bohemia must be s.th. really special. maybe like a combined castle-fortress-town-walls-bunker or the like. it wasnt. it was just a normal province city with quite interesting town hall building and few small old houses in the city center. and it was cold & raining, so nobody likes to explore a city on a day like that, you see? at least the indian food in a restaurant directly at the town hall was fine 😉

well, we havent seen hof's two recreation areas: the park theresienstein (picture below), the lake untreusee and the saale river ...

enjoy few pictures from hof (saale), bayern, anyway:

would you like to explore a city on a day like that?

cheb (eger), CZ

europe is nice, you know? there are so many nice historical places and nice natural sites down the road ... on the way home from the unesco heritage spa franzensbad (frantiskovy lazne) to munich we've just stopped by for a lunch in the nearby city of cheb (= eger), CZ.

we love this former german settled lands in the trijunction DE-CZ-PL and visit different areas from whatever side of the particular border whenever possible. as my wife is polish and also the offer for tourists is in poland best, we stay most often at the polish side in lower silesia (niederschlesien, dolny slask, slezsko). anyway, this time was the north-western part of the czech republic our destination.

enjoy few pictures from eger / cheb here 😇
