eastbourne + beachy head + birling gap

our last stop in south england was eastbourne (sussex). we have stayed only one night in a really nice old hotel at the sea-side, but have managed also do the nice walk (3 hours trekking tour) to beachy head & birling gap ... and to swim in the ocean :)

eastbourne was very similar to our last stop brighton, just the tourists here were on average 50 years older then the folks we have seen in brighton. whole eastbourne appeared like an old age home to me.

stonehenge

our next stop after london + windsor were the old, old stones of stonehenge ... 4,500 years old, they say ... well, everyone we spoke to about stonehenge told us we will be disappointed, so we didn't expect much and were not disappointed ... we even really liked the 30 minutes walk (instead of using the cars to the visitor centre) on the way back beside old (celtic?) graves and through the fields and forest ... but the best about stonehenge was our accommodations some 10 miles away. a small inn with only 4 tourist rooms and a pub from 16th century ...

TRUE, of course
stones ...

we preferred to walk back to the visitor centre instead a train-car transfer
let's bring there 1 more stone :-)

windsor (castle)

there is a famous castle, isn't there? well, we came to the ticket office at 4:15 pm and yes, it closed at 4 pm. wtf? well, we have seen the castle walls from outside, the small town as well and had a nice coffee break at the river thames, ... maybe we can see it some other time or never, who knows? it is not far away from our former stop london, but it is not on our stuff-to-see-list any longer ....

few pictures

queen victoria in my pocket ~ 1873 ~ one pound then equals 196 pounds today ... what will be today's pound be worth in 141 years? let's take a bet: almost ZERO :-)

no black swans in river thames today

london

enjoy view insights + pictures from my father-daughter-program in london & south england

first of all, we have had nice weather as you can easily see at the pictures and yes, we have had nice time there. i have been to london 20+ years ago, but what surprised me this time most was that i didn't feel like abroad. strange, isn't it? maybe because we spoke german to each other and i also met 3 friends there i spoke german, slovak and english to. and yes, many things were somehow similar to our last year's father-daughter-program in new york. maybe because of the overwhelming surveillance all over the city :-( ... omg, dear broken system #stopwatchingus you can't afford it anyway😏

our next stops after london were (pictures + stories follow soon, i hope):
st. pancras station. we have seen it every day, but not only therefore it is this my favourite london view
