political economy

a great presentation by peter boehringer about political economy respectively about politics driven by economy's lobbyists organized by PdV (party of prudence) in munich today. peter is a great libertarian + free market promoter, well known in the gold bugs scene basically via his blog at goldseiten.de where he reaches approximately 30,000 readers per article. he is also a money manager, founder of german precious metals association (DEG), public speaker and he recently often appeared as a co-founder of the initiative to repatriate the german gold, which you still can sign up here.

folks, i'm already too tired now and it is also too latte, so let's make just some notes today and give you some more insights tomorrow:
  • market manipulations via subsidies, bailouts, uneconomic policies, laws (energy markets, car industry (electric cars), interest rates, stock markets (PPT), currencies (e.g. CHF/EUR = 1.20 burden decided by the swiss central bank SNB), bonds, gold price, agriculture, many other markets and last but not least the banking system)
  • greece, merkel, bundesbank, financial crisis, system crisis, competitiveness of countries, .... sovereign debt interest rates before the euro system and know ....
  • comparison of socialism and our 'market economy'
  • state's share in germany's economy is approximately 50% and still increasing :-(
  • paper currencies (euro, dollar, yen, ...), wealth redistribution, fractional reserve banking, gold is money, ...
  • ESM, ESFS, eurogenforce, ...
  • lies + fraud all over the political system + mainstream media
  • pessimistic view: we will not stop before our system finally crashes
  • personal rescue idea: buy gold + silver + protect your wealth
  • freedom + free (competing) money systems + free markets
  • ....
  • ... more insights coming soon or never ...
  • ...
friends, after peter's presentation had the most listeners probably similar opinion about 'right and wrong' in economy like john stossel, i think ...

just in case you still think there is no alternative to the current way of western nations, the icelandic president ragnar grimsson will prove the opposite, my dears:

after peter's presentation and a short break, there was an opportunity to ask questions to peter and oliver janich, the head of the PdV in a familiar atmosphere of the old, old, old bavarian pub in the very historic city centre in the marktwirt inn.

source + more details about this interesting place: here

there will be some pictures and probably also the complete video-recorded presentation (60 - 70 minutes) available soon, so i will update the blog post later :-)

go gold bugs go and let's stop bureaucrats, eurocrats, lobbyist, big governments, central banks, mainstream media and the like :)

not a joke:

SILVER ~ fat cats never lose, but can they rig EVERY financial market?

because the physical silver market is so negligible small compared to the paper market (futures), the deep pocket guys can move the price of silver in every direction they like to. one day +4% (wednesday), the very next day -3% (=thursday=today) ... what about tomorrow? well done, my dear fat cats, well done
fino, a fat cat too

btw, does still s.o. out there think the silver price is somehow supply-demand-related? sometimes i think the deep pocket guys need the financial markets only to rob the clueless public like us traders / investors, what is your opinion?

ps: i do not like you, my dear silver dragon + snake, you look almost identical anyway ... and now i will imprison both of you in a dark small safe without any daylight for a loooong looong time

addendum ~ trading session today: silver was almost 3% down intraday, later erased all movements and now, 11 minutes before the gong, is it 0.41% up ... omg
the silver market farce (source: dab bank), the last 5 days (remember, there was no trading on january 1st because of bank holiday in usa / europe)

btw, do not think the silver market is any special. of course, it is more volatile than gold, but you can find the same manipulation template in gold + currencies + bonds (all of them are directly manipulated by governments and their small dirty central banks (e.g. the interventions of the SNB in case the euro falls against the swiss frank below the 1.2 treshold (i.e. swiss frank 'too' strong, the poor euro too weak). this 'market' is so phony for so long that i've a made a snapshot for you - enjoy the last 3 years of the EUR/CHF fairy-tale below)). not any different are the movements in some important commodities like oil (the u.s. government loves to sell its 'strategic' reserves in front of elections and the like in order to make the oil price look 'good' for the public. government's buddies like the goldman sachs guys love to suddenly change the composition of their commodity indexes like they've significantly reduced the amount of unleaded gasoline in their GSCI few years ago and thus forced all institutions which offered derivates on that index to sell unleaded gasoline and helped the price for a short period to look better at the petrol stations ... and than there still is the plunge protection team (PPT) which doctors the stock market when needed ...

EUR/CHF (source: dab bank), you see the 1.20 treshold, don't you?

my conclusion: the finance world is a banana republic, a small banana republic, my dears
banana plantation

last but not least, my dears: happy trading + investing

ps: the nice smilies are borrowed from InformedTrades

great job again, dear PPT!

company earnigs fell by 90% and the like in Q1 2009 vs. stock prices rising since the low in march without any break? it's crazy, isn't it?

btw, who are the strange folks who buy DJIA futures in the last trading hour BEFORE loooong weekend as if there were no stocks next week? is it the plunge protection team (PPT)? o tempora, o mores!

is it a sustainable growth? i don't think so => do not forget to place some stop-loss-limits 'under' your shortly bought (common stocks) positions and secure your gains unless u believe in your stocks and their great future :o)

btw, i will not sell any of my gold/silver/commodity stocks purchased in the last few weeks & months. why? it is my inflation hedge as i strongly BELIEVE (yes, it's just a believe as i can't know the future either :o) that the unbelievable huuuuuge amounts of fiat money added by governments and their small dirty central banks to the 'system' recently will cause a unbelievable huuuuuge inflation soon. just watch what is the development of the prices of gold/silver/farm land/oil/ showing up ...

oh my goodness! why do we elect such stupid politicians? we earthlings are sooooo freaking doomed!

PPT still alive!

folks, did you notice the hard work of the plunge protection team yesterday?

it's unbelievable! we were 30 minutes before the weekend and before incalculable overnight-risks, the DJIA have rapidly broken its multi-years-lows to the downside, the employment market data becomes worse from 1 week to the next, the horror news from the banking sector continues floating the markets like if there were some monstrous assembly line behind ... and what happened next? well, the DJIA futures shoot up as if that was the last buying opportunity for the next 5 years ;-)). DJIA not just 'corrected' it's huuuuge daily losses, it also closed @ +0.49% and moved also other market indexes into the winning range, just for the nasdaq100 came that crazy buying rally a little bit too late, nasdaq100 closed @ -0.91% yesterday

bravo PPT! congratulations! you could 'rescue' the wall street (& thus the whole financial world) a week longer ...

how bad is the current financial mess really?

folks, it's crazy!!! 6 central banks cut its interest rates in an emergency action today! usa, europe, great britain, ... cut the rates by soooo much (0.5 points) at the same time! how bad is the current financial mess really? i expect the markets will sell-off, but i hope i'm wrong as that would probably transfer the current financial crisis into a whole-economy-crisis! well, in few minutes will the u.s. stock exchanges open trading => we will see what happens next ...

... and the stocks did sell-off! but our PPT helped once again as there was some very strange buying after a dangerous -2% loss, then stocks bounced up, but to the end of the trading day they fell to their daily lows again, which is worse than bad for future developments :o(

(following passages are extracted from my posts @ http://www.informedtrades.com/135568-will-fed-lower-its-target-rate.html):

PLAN A.) the gold standard will come back to planet earth! earthlings, how do you feel about that? i mean, when all these folks outside take all their money from all these greedy banks. what about the fractional reserve banking? jaro, what does it mean? just answer 1 simple question: who are the first 10% @ the bank counter? assure you are among them as there are not more reserves there, if any! don't worry, cheers!

PLAN B.) we will get some next monetary reform and all the middle class will be swept away and all folks without gold, silver, land, houses (yes, houses!), oil, factories, van goghs, picassos, warhols etc. anyway. cheers again!

just look at the markets: fear + madness everywhere ...

japan: nikkei225 -9.38%
eurostoxx50 -6.54%
germany: dax30 -6.3% => here are 29 of 30 stocks negative, just volkswagen is not! no, there is no corporate buyback @volkswagen just now, there is just huuuuuge speculation out there. many trading blogs, stock newsletters and even money managers try to short volkswagen. my ex-money manager (i've fired him in the early march 2008) has shorted volkswagen at levels about 180 euros. his put options become worthless long time ago. yesterday quoted volkswagen @452 euros => short-squeeze! [10/28/2008, next short-squeeze, top €635, daily close €520]. well, there are many reasons why should volkswagen fall in price (it is more worth than mercedes, bmw, fiat, pegueot/citroen, GM, ford, nissan + renault + ... COMBINED! it is even more worth than toyota! this could be too much); but there are also some reasons why it could rise further [the 4 major stockholders: porsche (= majority owner) + the state of niedersachsen + porsche family members + piech family members DO NOT SELL any shares, so there is a limited supply, which is not good for the shorties trying to cover their shorts ;o]

well, yesterday were the markets not any better as there was a lot of speculation about the expected emergency cut of rates ... in my opinion would every change of rates (especially a big one) bring additional fear into the current (irrational?) markets and additional sell-offs. just no change could add some stability ...
btw, in germany rallied today the highest capitalized stock (volkswagen) more than 40% from 290 euros to 452 (short-squeeze, see above :-) after that it fell back to 287 (-1.83%). do you call that efficient and/or rational markets? just in case you would think there was some company-related message out there today - there was none!

cheers again and again,
j.

what a bombastic (or just lucky?) market forecast yesterday :o)

well, this time (= yesterday + today) was my opinion about the market behaviour correct :o). i thought that in the morning there will be some additional selling, but the european stocks started directly their run upstairs. but why in the hell fell silver -9%? thank goodness, i had a stop-loss-limit at least for one half of my silver positions, so i didn't take the whole punch today! gold -4%, platinum -7%, led -6%, zinc -4%, ....??? is the whole financial crisis which was sooooo overwhelming yesterday forgotten? are there no problems or risks anymore? is the us economy soooooo healthy that the usd 'should' move huge 2% against the eur in just 1 day? well, i have to repeat myself, but it is still as true as yesterday: in the short run are the fundamentals meaningless ;((

my general market commentary on yesterday's CRASH (black monday:) see here: http://jarogruber.blogspot.com/2008/09/crazy-monday.html, bellow are my trades for the last 2 days:

reason why + strategy: i've decided to buy silver @13.04 after i could recognize that the sell-off in gold + silver (probably) ended as there was a strong price increase. the price went up to 13.80 and i didn't sell because of strong fundamentals of the whole precious metals market in the epicentre of HUUUUUGE financial crisis as the u.s. congress denied the proposed bailout fund with a volume of $700 billion ....
lessons learned: even if the fundamentals are completely on my side, a stop-loss-limit in the market had saved my trading capital (silver fell furher to 11.75, a loss of 9% in 1 day. it's perverse, isn't it?)

plunge protection team (PPT)

folks, i've missed to trade the late recovery of DJIA on friday :O((. why? i came back home from sports, turned the PC on, started my trading platform and saw that a huge DJIA increase has started just 5-10 minutes earlier :o((. after an increase of 100 point there was not a good risk-reward-ratio anymore so i didn't trade. well, the index moved up another 60 points as there would be no trading on monday, but it doesn't matter. how obvious are the actions of the plunge protection team (PPT)? it is unbelievable what a strong buying happens in the last 1 hour of trading! there was sooooo much opportunity to buy all these stocks during the day @ much, much lower levels! but that massive buying short before the weekend? do they have no fear that on the weekend happens something very, very ugly and the stock markets opens with a huge gap down? do they have no fear to lose that money? btw, see my posting from 09/22/2008 to read my opinion about the origin of the money involved :o)). well, i believe that THE ONLY GOAL IS to move the DJIA (at any price!) a significant portion higher to signalize the crowd that there is everything right in the financial markets ... a fool who believes that!

dow jones, plunge protection team, natural gas, silver

many trades - little result :o((. well, i have bought 1 silver + 1 gas contract, than just tried to make some profit with down jones index trades. the initial strategy was to trade the late recovery of DJIA after a very, very weak day, which is probably often caused by massive buying through the plunge protection team (PPT). btw, do you know which money do they use? government money, FED money, taxpayers money, fictitious (not actually existing!) money or a combination of all of them? however, there was no strong PPT buying today ... so i've tried to pick-up some bigger movements in DJIA and hoped for one great hit watching the screen or even leaving my trading room for a while, but that big hit didn't come today :o). even a break of the psychological border @ 11.000 points didn't last long and the index has changed its direction again .... well, i've lost 76 euros (~112 usd) by jumping in and out several times, what reduced my sooooo successful day with commodities a little (my silver, orange juice and coffee contracts won about 200 € combined).

profit (loss)------: ($24)
reason why + strategy: trying to trade the late recovery of DJIA after a very, very weak day, which is probably caused by massive buying through the plunge protection team (PPT). later i was trying to pick-up some bigger movements in DJIA and hoped for one great hit, but it didn't come today :o)
lessons learned: the was too little patience and to small budget to allow the index to move against my position a little bit, therefore i was stopped out tooo often

lessons learned: after market close in usa, n the cmc-trading-platform there was (probably) a switch from DJIA prizing to DJIA-future prizing which moved the respective CFD about 20 points higher => to do: let's watch that phenomenon few times and let's try to make some profit from it e.g. let's try to buy 1 contract DJIA-CFD in the last minute of regular trading and sell the higher prized DJIA-future-CFD immediately (btw, the spread is 4 points)!
