george orwell - animal farm

after george orwell's 1984 and the for me a little bit nicer to read huxley's brave new world, i've managed to read orwell's dystopia animal farm on vacation in croatia. of course, i knew it will not be anything what could improve my mood, but in light of the current more and more absurd and despotic corona-measures i simply was interested what world orwell pictured to us in his famous novel ... will we get some kind of a vaccination, corona or CO2 dictatorship soon? LET'S STOP IT TILL IT IS NOT TOO LATE, dear comrades 😇

• orwell's book refers to stalin's soviet union
• written 1943-1944, first published after the end of the british - soviet 'war friendship' in 1945
  
• while reading it, i felt like in the old CSSR and GDR/DDR, EUdSSR, USSR/UdSSR

• after the animals at the manor farm took the power from the human owners over, they soon built a politburo (the pigs), police (the dogs), (masterminded) education, ... and soon was the working life for all others (horses, cows, sheep, hens, ...) worse than before 😓
• revolutionary song called "Beasts of England"
• four legs good, two legs bad
• old major, snowball, napoleon, minimus, squealer, boxer, clover, benjamin, ....

• lessons learned? Я Ξ √ Ω L U T ↑ ☼ N => new rulers/leaders, but often the same (or worse) circumstances for the people. so sad ...
  
• tomorrow there is a federal election in germany. well, i will try to choose the less evil and entomb (begraben) my voice in a ballot box (urne) for the next 4 years. they call it 'parliamentary democracy'. what about a real democracy, free societies and a world without politics, war and exploitation?
  
• orwell's last interview 'A Call to Remember' ... the future? like a boot in human face forever ... our duty? we must not allow it to happen 😃😃😃

rügen, vorpommern

like B follows the A, vorpommern follows mecklenburg, isn't it? well, you wouldn't believe it, but today's mecklenburg-vorpommern is a german federal state which was established only after the WWII. as germany lost the war, the area of vorpommern lost its major industrial city of stettin to poland (even when stettin is on the left oder river side) and built the administrative unit of mecklenburg-vorpommernin in the former GDR / DDR. 

it is the german state with lowest density of popupalion and if you asked me, even the few people there are somehow cold / unfriendly / frozen ~ maybe because of the rough climate at the baltic sea 😈

our stops in vorpommern were the unesco heritage city of stralsund for a day trip and the island rügen (rujana), where we've spent 5 nights and days visiting following areas / sights:

• the beaches of glowe and the taste of stralsund's famous störtebeker beer
• königsstuhl cliffs and beech (buche) forests (unesco heritage), the remaining / archaeological finds (from the 6th - 8th century?) of slavic fort herthaburg

• cape arkona (kap arkona) ~ putgarten, vitt, lighthouse, 4-headed slavic god svantevit / swantewit, the remaining / archaeological finds (from the 6th - 8th century?) of slavic fort jaromarsburg (jaro-mar, you see? 👻)
• sassnitz ~ harbor, submarine museum, lenin memorial (w. i. lenin returned to russia from sassnitz in 1917 in order to start the communist revolution), harbor pub with seagulls

bautzen (budyšin) ~ saxony

bautzen (= budyšin in serbian language) was our stop over on our way to poland. what a stop over! well, this time it really made sense not to eat in a highway restaurant but to visit this small, beautiful, medieval, mustard city of bautzen in saxony / saxonia 😄.

a serbian restaurant. the lusatian sorbs / serbs (lausitzer sorben, lausitzer serben) were the one and only flagship national minority in the former DDR. today there are still approximately 60,000 serbian people, but mostly completely assimilated, if you asked me ... enjoy few lusatia / lausitz / luzice pictures from our visit in this area two years ago
