#jarobuys cobalt + gold (formation metals + petaquilla minerals)

folks, folks, folks .... i'm such a crazy, stock exchange & shopping addicted alien!

well, i've been yesterday @ a resource conference in the best hotel bayerischer hof in munich, where 5 explorer companies + 1 trading company + the local stock exchange presented their stories to investors + general public + ... few of the companies and many of the guests have there been last year also and i could remember few of them ... i think it's nice to see some of the 'old' faces again, isn't it?

do u think there was much volume in their stocks today morning on the german stock exchanges? not reallly, few of them didn't trade at all! well, the earthlings are much more interested in free lunch (oooops, that was dinner time) + free beer + free coffee than to do some thinking for themselves ... not me! well, i just thought if that canadian companies have soooooo much money they could afford 2 invite the folks to the best place in town, they will prolly have some potential to upgrade their business anyway :). pls DO NOT TELL ME that the only reason they have 2 advertise like that is 'cos their projects are so sh*ty and they need sooooooooo much money 2 bring them into production and so on and on and on and on ...

i didn't know 2 of these 5 companies and i liked the story of the near-term cobalt producer formation capital corp. ... in winter 2009 renamed to formation metals (mines & major properties located in idaho / usa). well, even if i have invested last big portion of my idle money in july and early august as i've waited 4 the gold rally 2 come in august and was not at all dissapointed when it came in september instead, so i've opened just a small initial position in formation capital today. let's watch the company developments and maybe there will be a point in the future where i will have both, money 2 invest and faith in their operations 2 increase my stake . you know what? 3 of my portfolio companies sterling, sns, minco still fight in various legal issues on the sunshine silver mine / idaho. watch out, formation posses the Sunshine Precious Metals Refinery. crazy, isn't it?

what's the price of cobalt? i've no clue about that as there are mainly long term contracts between producers & consumers out there, BUT NEXT SPRING should cobalt become traded @ LME !!! it should bring much more public attention to that $6 billion market, isn't it?

what is cobalt used for? if i remember that correctly, it's for batteries, batteries and batteries, i think . hell, that formation guy was right! he told that todays so famous lithium-ion batteries contain more cobalt (approx. 60%) than anything else! wikipedia also confirms that from investment perspective so important fact "... Lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) is widely used in Lithium ion battery electrodes.[23] Nickel-cadmium (NiCd) and nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries also contain significant amounts of cobalt. ... " still wanna know more about cobalt? ok, pls move 2 wikipedia 2 learn.

what about gold? few days ago i've also increased my stake in panama's emerging gold producer petaquilla minerals (see comment #6), which is one of very few companies in my portfolio they didn't decrease sharply as the gold price corrected a little this week, which draw down my struggling portfolio from its recently reached break-even-point by approx. -5%

hmmmm, i just thought if i'm really such an easy to impact dreamer or the like, so i just checked my results achieved with stocks of this kind of tip / information. folks, it is really unbelievable, but for some strange reason or an other that companies belong 2 my best performers! well, they didn't go up straight away after i've bought them and they've also been hit sooooo hard in that damned crashy october 2008 (pls, pls, pls, never come back!), but i've watched their developments and in few of them even increased my stakes between december 2008 and february 2009 aaaaaand => HERE WE GO:
  • western potash +99,29%
  • commerce resources +206,07% ... ohhh, in yesterday's so weak stock market additional +11,67%. damn, what's going up out there :o)
  • zimtu capital +161,94%
  • western geopower +43,88%
  • megastar development +41,67%
  • adamus res. +45,12%
  • dundee precious metals +57,39%
  • formation capital -5,13%
  • burcon nutrascience +5,15%
yep, i see, i should just buy companies @ presentations, isn't it?
in case u ask yourself why do i buy mostly small unknown companies and not the soooo successful blue chips, here is the answer: i've worked for siemens + bmw for sooooo many years and i've recognized there is 1 thing huge companies have in common: they waste soooo much of owners' (shareholders') money in such a stupid way that i think there is no need to give them my money on top. chakkkka!
addendum, november 18, 2009:
big, big, big fraud @ petaquilla minerals !!!
folks, now i know why this sh*ty GOLD PRODUCER stock fell the last few months like a stone from heaven even facing these so enjoyable record gold prices ...
the company news were positive, i asked even their PR team if the management is fire selling the stock 'caus there was no reason visible from outside the company and got just the message that some director will respond soon, what he of course never did ...
you know what? today came the news that the company GOT THE NEEDED APPROVAL by some panama's (panamanean?) authority 2 operate the gold mine .... hell, that means the directors knew it doesn't look nice for the company, dropped the stock ... the price lost approx 50% in few days ... thx goodness and sooooooo fine 4 my portfolio 2day becomed the opposite option true and the mine approval is here. the stock is +91.11% now ... and +111.11% as i've finished that blog post ... and 2day's high was +126.67% ... and the closing quote is +117.78%(!!!).
well, my recently bought position is slightly positive again, the managers are buying their stock back like crazy (just my guess, they didn't tell me anything as i wrote above, but you know, just look @ the recent volume and compare it to the average ... )
anyway, I DO NOT LIKE PETAQUILLA ANYMORE :-(
ps: the symbol is PTQ (@ TSX in toronto)
addendum, november 20, 2009
folks, i've got a call from petaquilla's PR guy luigi 2day ... what do u think was the message? of course, petaquilla lives in the best of all worlds ... now, where the mine permit is there + production rising + cash-flow flowing + plans 4 the future developing ...
what abt my question concerning the huge sell-off even if the gold reached one all-time-high after the next? .... hmmmm, you know ... there was no information to the shareholders for a long period of time (wanna move 2 company's homepage & check it?) .... you know ... one leaving manager was selling his stock (was he really? whould u sell a stock when the company has just started earning money? me not! even if i was an exploration expert moving 2 next opportunity i would hold all my shares + enjoy the ongoing gold production + cash-flow + dividends etc. )
well, the tape will tell us the truth soon!
on the other side, it was a very pleasant discusion and hopefully will that petaquilla-speculation work out well 4 me btw, in the past i've got already optimistic + very positive emails from CEOs and/or public relations folks from companies which went bankrupt just weeks later (web2corp) or have fallen 2 abt zero like bernanke's short term interest rates (greenshift, current quote is $0.0008 ... it is not a typo!)
addendum, november 30, 2009:
folks, luigi was right, right, right! petaquilla is +18.37% today, my latest purchase (approx 2 months ago) is +58,39% already and my overall investment needs just a small increase of approx 9% to reach the break-even point (=> tomorrow?). well the bad feeling abt the recent strange developments (see above) will stay much longer :-(
some other commodity highlights from my portfolio 2day?
  • Aquila Resources +54.17%
  • Genco Resources +21.65%
  • Magma Energy +11.11%
  • Rochester Resources -11.36%
  • Source Exploration +15.91%
  • Sterling Mining -10.00%
let's read the company news, if any, from aquila + genco + sterling, maybe there is some major change in company fundamentals :o)
explorer stocks are soooo risky and sometimes sooooo exciting! there is no need for options/warrants/etc. LOL
... 5 minutes later ... aquila? drill results! ... Aquila Resources and HudBay Minerals Back Forty Drilling Intersects 20.2 Meters of 11.5 Grams Per Tonne Gold and 119.7 Grams Per Tonne Silver8:31 AM ET, November 30, 2009...
folks, just 2 let you know how crashy the stupid october 2008 crash in the explorer business really was, i'm gonna tell u how is my overall aquila position performing till now: hell, even if i've more than doubled my initial number of shares in january 2009 near the all-time-low quote, i'm still -52,10% down, down, down .... hmmmm, do you think, they will release some next drill results like e.g. (just my guess) 40.4 Meters of 23 Grams Per Tonne Gold sooooooooon? will they?
go, commodities, go!

addendum, december 2, 2009
folks, i'm not going 2 bore u every day with the latest petaquilla quote (promised!), but you know what?
yesterday was my break-even-point for the complete petaquilla investment, 2day is petaquilla +33.33%. crazy, isn't it? just think abt bondholders! they often need years 2 reach a 30% profit and then they have 2 pay taxes on that gain ... hell, that's boring! well, the volume was 5 times higher than the average, of course was there no company news release or anything else what would fundamentally legitimate that increase ... but who cares if the things are working fine?
well, now u know why i do not trade these kind of stocks or evaluate their charts or set stop limits :=). explorer stocks are like lottery, you never know how high/deep they will go if folks becomes fearful/greedy! btw, u still remember vg gold's +127% move up on a day when rob mcewen announced his investment in it? btw, the stock is much higher now ...
heaven, this investment stuff is soooooo easy!

my crazy micro-caps :-)

folks, watching my portfolio's pennystocks is like lottery. who will be lucky and who not today? few highlights:
  • qimonda +47.92% (my guess: still highly bankruptcy endangered chip producer and (worldwide?) technology leader ... i think it is also the last european chip producer for some special chips at all, but qimonda wasn't big & important enough to get bailouted by german government or some european funds ... well, europe prefers 2 bailout 'soooo neeeded' bankrupt car makers, department stores + banks .... aaand thus 2 buy their computer & mobile devices chips in asia instead. IMO is qimonda a no buy anyway!)
  • scorpio mining +27.27% (my guess: healthy! no company related news 2day, but 5 times the usual trading volume => folks, that's my 2nd biggest portfolio position! i think after german market re-adjusts the late canadian price movements it will prolly become my #1 by volume tomorrow)
  • sterling mining, also +27.27% (my guess: even if they won some legal issue on lease rights 4 the sunshine mine / idaho recently, they're still highly bankruptcy endangered, no buy!)
  • vg gold +11.84% (no guess as i don't understand what's going on there. btw, u still remember their geyser-like advancement into thin air highs after rob mcewen's investment? yep? that stock is up +396.43% in the last 30 days according 2 my broker's software and +89.89% compared 2 my initial purchase price ...)

go, explorers, go!

damned stupid! (u.s. silver instead of uc resources)

folks, i've missed the right silver company just by 1 place in my portfolio list!

well, u.s. silver rose a little bit (+7%), but the proper silver guys are their name-neighbors uc resources!!! they rocketed +45% today (intraday even +55%). what about the volume? yep, 18 times the usual heap i.e. 3.9m shares instead of 200k .

what makes our poor homo sapiens financialis that crazy? is there any possible explanation? well, they've announced today:

UC Resources has Commenced Drilling at McFaulds Lake, 9:14 AM ET, August 4, 2009 ...

whaaaaaat? they've just started drilling? they didn't find anything yet? it's august now, the drilling season mostly over! hell, that's damned late 2 start drilling @ some stupid lake!!!

btw, what's your opinion? maybe are there some folks who know more than that or maybe even mr. market himself!

ps: explorer stocks are so crazy & sometimes sooooo exciting :-)

pps: still remember vg gold? they're +11.77% today => closed @ CAD 0.38

addendum, november 26, 2009:
well, that was a BAAAAAD quarterly report @ u.s. silver yesterday :-(

hell, a small loss even at these really high silver prices, cash costs per ounce increased from $11 to $13 ...

oh my dear! my mexican and peruvian producers have cash costs of approx $3 - $6, my base metals producers with silver as by-product abt $1 (@ scorpio mining i think) and there was also a company which has reported cash costs for silver of MINUS $5. silver for -5 usd? folks, got it? that's much, much, much better than silver for free! if they sold all their zinc, led, copper, they've made a profit above $5 and still have all that shiny silver on top! ... well, i didn't remember the name of that company, i think it was prolly one from the trio endeavor silver, 1st majestic silver, fortuna silver ... but i could be wrong on that ... you know, i have more than 30 silver companies in my portfolio as i can't store all of them in a single watch list @ tsx website :o)

hell, let's hope the metal prices in Q4 will support u.s. silver a lot + their stock price will skyrocket soon + i will reach the winning zone again (btw, even if the last purchase shows a profit of abt 13% i'm still abt 15% down on u.s. silver)

c'est la vie ...

go, silver, go !!!

my column in BElog @be24.at launched 2day ;o)

folks, do not hesitate to visit me @ that funny austrian finance site be24: my blog posts. what was the first posting about? of course, it was about our dear homo habilis aka homo sapiens financialis.
(source: www.eromism.com/img/homo_habilis_sapiens.jpg)

homo sapiens financialis :-)

leute, was LERNEN WIR daraus?
  • verschwende keine zeit + geld für falsche sachen
  • kaufe nur das richtige
  • das investieren ist sooooo einfach :-))
------
=> also die klassischen anlaufschwierigkeiten, stimmt's?

danke fürs vorbeischauen + lg aus münchen :-),
jaro.
übrigens, hier ist der link auf den original be24.at-BElog :-)

quo vadis, homo sapiens financialis?

there were 2 baaaad 'red ink' days in a row 4 commodity bulls, but the market (IMO toooo much USD-strength-oriented) turned in a different direction today and eliminated biggest part of recent losses again .... my portfolio is +1.89%, better than the overall stock market ...

btw, the stock-markets are sooo strange ... going few points higher, than few points down and then higher again ... folks,
isn't it like a man walking with his dog? sometimes is the dog in front, sometimes the man, but they always go in the same direction ... (oh dear! my stupid interned & stock-exchange addicted brain cannot remember who used that phrase 1st... graham, buffett, kostolanyi? who cares? the prices will go their own way anyway, with or without the leash ...)

damned hell, i hope my portfolio will go up a lot in the long run!!!

what about bravo venture? vg gold? well, my recent acquisitions advanced +20% today ... hmmmmm, we know there is still a strange hysteria in vg gold stock, but is s.th. strange coming up at bravo too? let's look at company's news (Bravo Venture Group Inc.: Drilling Underway at Homestake Ridge 2:16 PM ET, July 27, 2009: Bravo plans an aggressive +$5.0 million drilling program consisting of approximately 8,500 metres in up to 40 drill holes. Bravo anticipates an approximate 70-day field season, which should conclude in October. ...). well, that's nothing special, gold explorer have to drill 4 gold ... and the stock didn't do much on July 28, 2009 either ... but who knows?

FORGET about the south sea company! REMEMBER vg gold :-)

what about homo sapiens financialis? after rob mcewen participated in the financing of struggling vg gold, the folks out there act like crazy lemmings! he had paid CAD 0.08 per vg gold's share, today (~4 trading sessions later) paid the folks CAD 0.405 (!!!). that's more than 5 times as much ... wanna see the 6 months chart? here we go: InformedChart ... well, let's watch if the price comes back down soon or if there is actualy a new level established

ps: i'm not sure if the homo sapiens did learn anything over centuries, let's look back to 1711 in tek's blog about the south sea company mania

pps: you still remember my initial blog post on vg gold issue?

ppps: thx goodness i've stuck 2 my investment strategy and didn't catch the fast buck @CAD 0.29 as the stock was @ CAD 0.405 today. btw, who knows how long will the party last?

indicated conclusions: do not waste your time + money on wrong things! buy just the right ones! this investment stuff is soooooo easy

as always, follow the InformedDiscussion here or simply drop a comment bellow :-)

rob mcewen invests in vg gold => +126.92% today!

crazy gold explorer stocks!

folks, u know rob mcewen? yes? fine! no? also fine, just imagine the 'warren buffett' of the gold market

folks, pls tell me how stupid the homo sapiens finacialis is? yesterday no one liked my struggling portfolio position – vedron gold (renamed 2 vg gold recently), today is there a buying orgy as if there were no stocks tomorrow! the stock is +126.92% just now and sells @ CAD 0.295 … hmmmmm, didn’t the folks read that rob mcewen's lexam explorations paid just CAD 0.08 per vedron's share? will the price fall to CAD 0.08 later on? ... 5 hours later ... vedron closed @CAD 0.255 (+96.15%), the volume was 3,642,169 stocks. what about the avg. volume? would u like to guess? .......... just 47,300 stocks a day .... crazy homo sapiens finacialis!

thx goodness i’ve increased my stake in vedron gold in may by approx. 60%. not bad jaro, not baaaaaaad at aaaaaaaall, yabbadabbadooo
damned hell, why didn’t tweet rob that message to me before informing all these media guys? and when will he invest also in my other struggling (nevada based!) gold explorers/miners like bravo ventures, coral gold, miranda gold, … and when will he increase his own stake in u.s. gold 2 help his weak performing stock also gain +126.92% in a single day?

btw, 3 years ago (march 5, 2006), he announced to take-over 4 (nevada based) gold companies and bought 3 of them actually (nevada pacific gold + white knight resources + tone resources) … he also bought a major part of minera andes (@ CAD 1, current price CAD 0.83) recently, so let’s hope his appetite 4 gold stocks isn’t satisfied yet ... good luck, rob

ps: lexam explorations (one of mcewen's companies and the actual buyer of vedron's stock) is +35.71% today (maybe is their vedron investment at current price more worth than lexam itself - let's check the numbers later o). well, it's also nice 4 my portfolio even if lexam is still 50% down compared to my purchase price in summer 2007 (far before the october 2008 crash for most metal explorer stocks have destroyed sooo many dreams). btw, mcewen's flagship us gold is +2.33% today.

pps: folks, you still remember my comments about rob mcewen in my blog post concerning the gold-dow-ratio (
Posted 07-19-2009), don’t u?

ps: 2 read the whole discussion, pls go informedtrades.

pps: folks, i do feel like if bravo venture could be the next take-over target ... wanna read more ? oki, pls follow here
...

addendum april 12, 2010: king world news interviewed rob mcewen on april 10, 2010 ... wanna hear the interview? pls go here :-)
In this interview Rob discusses the disastrous course of US policy, the possibility of hyperinflation in the US, consolidation in the mining sector, the coming explosive mania that will send gold skyrocketing in price and much more.

addendum november 5th, 2010: folks, ive met rob mcewen @ the precious metals fair in munich ... he was the key speaker of the conference, so i will prolly post some insights in my planned blog abt the event tomorrow or on sunday. just to let you know that (in his opinion) the time for buying gold/silver & mining stocks isnt over yet as he still sticks to the dow-gold-ratio in order 2 see when there is time for other opportunities than gold in the markets
