food + rare earths? #jarobuys potash + phosphorus = encanto + mosaic + agrium + innophos

well, there was the next investor lunch in the pretty käfer's restaurant this week. it was all abt food this time! no, just kidding, of course not only abt food alone but also abt drinks! and abt fertilisers! well, the farmers need them like the hell needs the fire => thus #jarobuys:
  • alexco res. - precious metals explorer in canada & mexico + environmental services 4 mining industry
  • alderon res. - near term iron ore producer in labrador / canada
  • encanto potash - potash explorer in saskatchewan / canada
  • s.th. else, wanna present that later cos the investor lunch series continues next wednesday ...

still following my train of thoughts? no? what? my rant does not make any sense at all? ok, lets start again :-)

well, these company presentations are run by euroscandic intnl & fortuna capital guys. this time there was a small overview abt the recent euroscandic's investments, so ive decided 2 buy alexco + alderon out of their list ... btw, ive bought encanto on monday @ CAD 0.19 ... the closing quote 2day was approx 13% higher @ CAD 0.215 ... dont ask me why i didnt buy the shares few weeks earlier  and avoided the road show impact on the stock price or why i didnt bought at about CAD 0.12 before the august/september rally in commodities started ... of course, buying early doesnt always mean buying low ...  just imagine, my next week's 'investor lunch' purchase is permanent below my entry price ;-( ... thunderstorms! im not going 2 keep that secret any longer! thats donner metals, u know? wanna look-up 'donner' in a german dictionary?

hmmmm, what abt jim walchuck's presentation? well, encanto's CEO told/shown in his matter-of-fact manner (hell, are there no joke sputtering salespeople/entertainers out there? ... just kidding ... when investing, facts are much more profitable than fairy-tales, of course i know ;o)) few interesting assumptions abt the planet's growing population, shrinking agricultural production land, bhp billiton's take-over offer for the worlds #1 potash producer potash corp. of saskatchewan ... lets see if there is still s.th. what i could remember:
  • $1 spent on fertilisers leads to $3 in higher earnings for the farmer
  • there are only 12 countries producing potash out there (canada, russia, belarus, germany, ...)
  • 35% of wold production comes from saskatchewan / canada
  • there are only 3 junior potash companies in saskatchewan left, all others where taken-over by majors or went bankrupt before the boom in commodities arrived on planet earth. btw, one of them is my 3.5-bagger western potash
  • encanto is a really-early-stage-explorer, it will need a lot of fresh money in order 2 reach production and thus is gioing dilute the existing share base further ... well, lets hope it happens at a much, much higher price than the current CAD 0.215
  • the number of fully diluted shares is already 250,665,044 ... a little bit 2 high ... there will always be folks willing 2 sell at some higher levels which will slow down the stock performance i think ...
  • good first nations relationships (important 4 permitting of drilling / future production ... well, in case of success will these folks get a 3% royalty out of all encantos potash sales ... shudda merry chief's daughter asap?)
  • there should be enough money in order 2 finish drilling + all needed studies in order 2 present a new resource calculation till december 2010 or january 2011, which could/should attract both investors and eventual joint-venture partners
  • ...
lets support these encanto guys, lets follow their progress a little bit closer (of course, ive subscribed 4 companys investors newsletter), lets help 2 provide some food 4 the earthlings and some $$ for myself => good luck, my lovely potash play, good luck :-)

addendum 10/16/2010: where the hell is all that phosphor/phosphate produced?

folks, ive spoken to a buddy of mine abt food + fertilizers last week ... an ongoing PhD in agriculture ... potash + sodium + phosphor is all what the plants need (beside sun + water, of course) ... and u know what? phosphor is the stuff which is really rare ... got it? thats a huuuuge investment opportunity, u know? well, ive been googling the web for an hour or 2 and despite their +11.19% rise on friday i found almost nothing .... only one lithuanian producer listed in london without any significant volume (but already well advanced in the last few months) and one chinese company without any stock-exchange listing (at least i coudnt find such) ...
WHO KNOWS ANY phosphor/phosphate PRODUCER?

addendum 10/25/2010: again looked for phosphor producers on the internet yesterday, couldnt find much out there => is the world really running out of phosphor? well, there was an another lithuanian producer, but unfortunately listed only in vilnius, a chinese company and not much more thus ive decided 2 buy two agriculture majors: the canadian agrium inc. guys + their american nyse buddies mosaic co. well, the former produce phosphor fertilizers, buuuut the later are the guys who bring phosphor above ground! of course, like the whole potash / rare earths sector both agrium and mosaic doubled since august therefore ive decided to make a small pilot buy and watch these companies closer in the future ... btw, ive found a great article on phosphorus @ seeking alpha => enjoy:

Taking Stock of Phosphorus and Biofuels -- Seeking Alpha

addendum, october 31st + november 1st: well, ive made some additional studies, there are few more phosphorus producers (or at least phosphorus fertilizers producers) out there:
  • innophos - listed @ nasdaq, thx 2 mentor (see comment below) for this useful information
  • United Phosphorus Limited - a huge indian company, listed only in india, cant buy shares via my existing brokerage accounts, current price is already high but not parabolic, there is strong earnings growth as well
  • many chinese / indian / russian / baltic (lithuania!) / ukrainian / arabic (morocco!) companies => its difficult 2 invest in them
  • ICL Fertilizers - israel - gonna look-up later
  • IMC phosphates - usa - gonna look-up later
  • Jordan Phosphate Mines Company Ltd. - a mining company!!!
  • luvena s.a. - poland
  • Kazphosphate LL - kazakhstan
  • K+S - germanys huuuge potash producer, already in my portfolio but a badly performer till now
  • many private or non-quoted public companies => for me impossible 2 invest in them :-(
  • legend international - phosphorus
  • mosaic company - phosphates + potash
  • south boulder - potash in eritrea (bought in february 2011)
  • allana potash - potash in ethiopia (bought in february 2011)
  • ...

btw, lets keep track abt all my phosphorus / phosphat / potash / agriculture companies => lets sum up my FOOD DIVISION:
  • nestle - switzerland - nespresso & more :-)
  • agrium - canada
  • mosaic - usa - phosphates + potash
  • legend international holdings - phosphorus
  • western potash - canada - potash explorer
  • encanto potash - canada - potash explorer
  • K+S - germany - potash producer, fertilizers
  • ADM - usa - grains
  • burcon nutrascience - canada, vegetable proteines
  • EnWave - canada - dehydration technology (food + medicals)
  • vale - brasil - phosphate mines!!!
  • bhp billiton - australia - gonna take-over potash of saskatchewan corp
  • world water ETF - dont ask me what the hell is in that basket ... no clue at all!
  • kws saat - germany - seeds
  • innophos - usa -  a specialty phosphate producer
  • allana
  • south boulder
  • ...
folks, i liked the idea of putting all members of 1 sector together! will prolly continue with gold/silver, base metals, energy, industry, 'new' technology, REE, finance, etc in some of my future blog posts ... shoudda try 2 motivate (bribe?) my youngest daughter in order to create these sector lists as watchlists / demo portfolios at my brokers website in order to get also the current $$ weight of each sector? gonna think abt that idea later

my REE fighters (rare earth elements):
  • commerce resources - canada
  • quantum rare earth - usa
  • aurizon mines - canada
  • zimtu capital - canada
  • talon metals - canada
  • arafura resources - australia
  • lynas corp - australia
addendum may 8, 2011:

folks, now i start 2 understand all that REE craziness out there! wanna see the recent price developments?  (source: the latest lynas corp quarterly report)
...
RARE EARTHS PRICES
Rare Earths supply constraints has further impacted  Rare Earths prices. The average quarterly price for the Mount Weld Rare Earths distribution, on Freight on Board  (FOB) China basis, increased to US$ 92.84/kg  REO, which is  an increase of  over 49% across the quarter. Prices continue to increase post quarter end and as at 27 April 2011, the average price for the Mount Weld Rare Earths composition was US$ 160.32/kg on a FOB China basis.

investor lunch with altona mining? #jarobuys altona mining :-)

folks, there was a next event from the famous 'investor lunch' series yesterday ... and a project milestone party in the evening ... or till early morning hours, to be honest ... btw, i hate alcohol, especially aperol ... will not drink more than 10 of these crazy bitter italian aperitifs next time, promised! ... shudda recap the investment related part of yesterday? pls dont ask my wife 2 recap the project party part, lol
  • australian micro cap explorer company which took advantage of the 2008 financial mess and bought assets of bankrupt competitors vulcan res + universal res
  • near-term copper producer in finland (outokumpu mine) => a fat cash cow or a thinny calf ... who knows?
  • IMO is the most of the mine financing already done (incl. support / credit lines from finnish government, etc.)
  • huuuge early stage copper project in australia (xstrata has an option 2 buy 51%)
  • in case u hate copper, there are still few more things out there: real estate, mine equipment, Au, Ag, Zn, Pb, Ni, Co, U (btw, i hate uranium, nuclear power, nuclear bombs, ... thx goodness, the australian government doesnt allow mining of uranium in that part of the country )
  • their website is far from done, there are still links 2 universal, navigation uncomfortable (esp. the mining projects sites) ... wanna do that job 4 the altona guys?
  • ...
well there was much more interesting stuff the simpatico CEO alistair cowden mentioned  (my own recording, so watch out as he could mean the opposite as well :-) ... economy in australia (perth!) is booming and in asia as well, copper sales in germany are rising like crazy (is even german economy stronger than i think it is?), u better have the chinese as customers 4 your copper shipments than as majority shareholders, ... what abt 3 more great alistairs quotes?
    1. what kills a mine is never the capital costs, its the operating costs
    2. u cant get s.th. 4 nothing, u have 2 give s.th. in exchange (... like 51% of your project 2 xstrata or all money u earn 2 your wife and the like. u see?)
    3. good assets will get their reward, market timing is always unpredictable
u know me already, dont u? of course ive opened a small initial position yesterday, subscribed for companys newsletter, gonna watch its development and maybe increase my holdings in the future ... u know what? the stock price is 20.3% up in germany 2day => altona seems 2 be a serious candidate for my 10-bagger club, hehehe :-)

good luck, my lovely australian-finnish copper play, good luck!

addendum 11/02/2010: #jarobuys more altona shares 2day ... folks, i feel this company is going 2 have success and so does mr. market if the stock is priced 'correctly' => lets buy more shares :o)

btw, when on the buyers side, i hate altonas current stock price ... it is 90% above my initial purchase 6 weeks ago ... ohhhhh :-( .... anyway, good luck my red hot copper play, good luck ;-)

    #jarobeats cmc markets!

    my broker's logo ...

yabbadabbadooooo! ive won my fight against cmc which ive boosted/accelerated in june! finally ive made more money out of my (mini) trading account as ive ever paid in :-). well, ive withdrawn 5k €uros in august and 1,600 last thursday, which is already few hundred euros more than i have put in the last 3-4 years in order 2 learn to trade and of course 2 learn sooo much abt myself ... i even plan 2 withdraw next 400 euros on monday cause there is still more margin coverage than i really need ... => ....

... thx my lovely silver, wheat, gas, coffee, sugar, rice, corn, orange juice ... well, now ive left only 4.4k of profits at my cmc account so there is no way i can ever lose (unlike stocks + currencies, commodities cant become worthless overnight, u know?).

thats victory, isnt it? what is so special at this? well, cmc markets is the CFD-broker with the worst reputation, i think ... its really a bad guy broker with sooooo aggressive advertisement, many inexperienced customers, the cmc guys as a 'market maker' make even their own quotes so they very often overshoot the ranges of underlying assets (e.g. commodity futures) and thus take out many stops near the real price curve, ive already complained many times abt wrong order executions and even few times got some money back ... btw, just in case u would like to ask why didnt i take my money out and move to a better broker, heres the answer: at that time i had no appetite, no time, no mood and especially no money to open a next trading account with a much much higher initial account backing needed (usually 5k or 10k instead of 1k @ cmc markets) ... and after all, i have already 5 different trading accounts ... and yes, i like the cmc trading software much better than e.g. its lynx brokers equivalent [lynx is my current low fee canadian mining stocks broker ... and since 2 months also a CFD broker ... but i dont wanna 2 mix up my CFD and stock activities in a single account (that allows me a much much better risk control i believe)]

what 2 do with my new funds? thats easy! #jarobuys aquila resources, bravo gold, tara gold, andover ventures, ... (will continue buying on monday ;-) ...

addendum sept 20, 2010: #jarosells sugar @ 24.24 today morning .... was the daily low realy that deep? why tells nymex it was just 24.26

well, thats karma isnt it? shudda not write abt my dear broker, wudda not get stopped out below the real daily low, is it?

Nymex No. 11 Sugar (hell, 2day's low is 24.26 and not 24.24)

btw, ive entered the sugar market in may, still have 1 contract open, im too tired & too lazy now to bother my calculator in order to compute the gains in terms of percentage, the cash difference per CFD contract is slightly above 1,000 bucks in both cases which is really great, i think:
    • 10.05.2010: 14.21 u.s. cents
    • 14.05.2010: 13.93 u.s. cents

btw, as for now, my next stop limit is 23.23 but still hope sugar will go up further

addendum 09/21/2010: shopping finished, #jarobuys altona mining, formation metals, enwave corp

      go microcaps go!

      go andover go!

folks, thats the 2nd visit of andover (TSX-V: AOX) in munich so far (welcome, rob + thx 4 coming again). if u wanna u can see some pictures of the nice käfer`s palace from the 1st event here.

what happened since the last visit? IMO are the things changing from good to better, which leads me 2 the question of the day: what 2 do in a situation like that? that was an easy one, wasnt it? of course, #jarobuys more andover shares 2day!

lets try 2 sum up few investment related issues:
      • the prospects are great: 3 different Au/Ag/Zn/Pb/Cu properties, geothermal energy, limestone, rare earths, huge land package, ...
      • the mngmt owns approx 35% of all outstanding shares, so the guys in charge of the company are going 2 work like crazy in order 2 make that story a success  => lets take part in that ;-)
      • few legal issues concerning genco/chief are solved in andovers favor
      • ...
      • any risks? of course, exploration/mining is a risky business and there will be a lot of capital and/or a strong partner (like rio tinto in one of the properties) needed till all assets become cash generating mines ... gonna wait that long?
hell! lets tell mr. market andover's share price should respond accordingly SOON :-)

btw, if u wanna philosophize abt that issue u can also move 2 the discussion page @ InformedTrades ...

      #jarobuys wheat (~weizen~)

folks, there was a lot of discussion abt 'moral' issues when trading currencies, commodities and abt the sooooo evil speculators ....

well, ive written a nice article abt the importance of high wheat prices in order 2 ensure the supply of wheat few days ago at a german trading website ... wanna read that? thats easy, just follow that link ... btw, wanna translate that article into english? also easy! dont waste a second and start immediately and (if finished) just send it 2 me via email or post it directly as comment below in order to help the non-german-speaking-folks out there :-). will you?

addendum, july 2010: OMG! ive increased my wheat position at $430 in june (original purchase was @ $526.6) ... aaaand the current price is $661.5 (!!!)

wanna read more? here we go :-)

addendum august 6th, 2010: well, im out of wheat completely ... 2day rose wheat from $785 to $840, then started 2 fall and my position stopped out @ $757 ... (low: $730, current $747) ... 2 days ago i sold the 1st portion @ $676 (much 2 early cos of fear/panic caused by a phony 2% decline and correspondig wake-up call by some chat-buddies ... i even removed my original stop limit which would hold by sure and sold market just 2 see moving wheat to $830 ... but i know im myself responsible for my decisions, of course ;o)

missed opportunity hurts like hell ... but hopefully comes some next one soon

      #jarobuys rice, rough rice!

      (bali, indonesia, 2009)

folks, what a luck 2day! you know, i wanted 2 buy rice yesterday as i faced the message rice reached its 3 years low. my limit order was fulfilled last night @ $9.75 but i didnt realize that (do u think i should download the market opening hours at least 4 my favorite commodities, dont u?). by coincidence of luck + stupidity ive called my broker and bought one additional contract market @ $9.81 2day. that was prolly the damned market low indeed!

btw, sugar + coffee + natural GAS + orange juice + WHEAT + CORN advanced like crazy 2day and offset silver's saaaad 4.5% decline (intraday even more than 5%). who cares abt silver? im not sure yet, but i will prolly increase my silver holdings in the area of $17.33 if it fells that much 2morrow :-)

well, lets say (loud and all 2gether!) the final prayer 4 my new portfolio guest, rough rice: my dear rice, please advance in price like crazy => so i become outrageous rich soon => the farmers start producing more rice (in order 2 participate in the outrageous high price) => and thus there will be a plenty of rice out there => thus nobody will starve cos hunger is a damned ugly feeling. thx, my dear rice, thx

#jarosells CBH resources, pays taxes, bail-outs own checking account, #jarobuys greystar + rocmec + SQM + halo + amerigo resources and still has 2k left 4 additional investments :-)

folks, u thought if the title is that long, there is no need to write the body of the message, isnt it? well, its not that simple! first of all, good-bye my lovely 5th biggest and 2nd or 3rd most succesful investment ever, good-bye cbh resources (~base metals in australia) ...

pls dont tell me 'ride your winners and sell your losers', selling cbh was hard enough 4 me ... well, the take-over bid is there, the price is fixed @ AUD 0.24 and there is no reason 2 keep that position any longer i think .... of course, that price still 50% below its pre-crash-2008-level and the AUD could rise against the poor €uro a little bit further till july (~ take-over deadline if 90% of shareholder will agree to toho zinc's offer)... i dont think there will be a new (higher!) bid price in the future as the belgian nyrstar and japanese toho increased their offers already 2 or 3 times, u know? i even think, if the take-over doesnt take place in july cbh's share price would collapse badly ...

so, lets take the chance of byuing few new companies cheaper than expected cos the recent micro correction in the golden rally  (the price of gold fell from its recent all-time-high $1,250 to $1,170 and is back to $1,213) and also small correction in the general stock market (DJIA is down approx 10%) in the last 10-15 days caused that many, many, many precious metals explorers and junior producers are down 15 - 30% and few even more (one of my 'heroes', levon resources is 50% down!!! thats prolly cos of its huuuuge gains before, so the investors who dont wanna admit they were wrong (poor gamblers?) sold levon 'taking' a profit i assume :-). thx for that nice buying opportunities, mr. market, thx :-)

btw, wanna know what does faith mean in investor's decision taking? just look at the dates and volumes ive add 2 my initial play which started in march 2007. here few shares and there next few of them if the family budget allowed some new investment funds ... thats what i call value investing, u know?

(i will change the screen shot for a new one with 'my' price €0.16 instead of current €0.158 next week if possible)

did i told u i hate taxes a lot? no? imagine as told right now :). damned hell, all profits on stocks/options/etc bought since january 2009 are subject of approx 28-30% tax in germany. well, now u can understand why ive spent my last 87 €uros on the 30.12.2008, the very last tax-free day of my life :). ok, my gross profit was approx 3,000 €uros, thus approx €700 was tax, i still own the very last 1,500 shares which ive moved 2 a different account last year but the 52% loss (= 250 euros) on them will not reduce my taxes because the purchase date was in 2007 ... im not going to sell that stocks because of the 10 or 15 €uros of commission, ive just agreed to toho's offer and hope they will pay out the money without charging any additional fees/commissions  ...

      what abt my new involvements?
      • greystar resources - gold in colombia, cheap like an unwanted pet cos of some (major!) environmental/political problems with local colombian authorities
      • SQM or do u like SOC.QUIMICA Y MIN.DE CHILE SA better? -hmmmm, bought straight forward out of my watchlist cos recognized of one of my favorite decision patterns i.e. price approx 20-30% below recent highs + progressive dividend payer (dividend increases every year). well, when i wanted to look-up which metals they produce in the evening, i wondered like crazy when i saw SQM is an iodine + potash (~fertilizer) producer :-). ok, my 'food investments' division [western potash, K+S (kali+salz ~ the huge german potash producer), burcon nutrascience, ADM, KWS saat, nestle ...] welcomes a new member, so what?
      • rocmec mining - gold in canada, a small increase of existing position, investment pattern? collapsed price vs. good news flow
      • halo resources - gold in canada, a small increase of existing position, investment pattern? collapsed price vs. good news flow (btw, thats not a copy & paste error :o)

      • ??
      • ?
      • soltoro ltd - silver & gold in mexico, one of my (former!) watch list positions, great pattern (cheap compared 2 previous levels without any negative news), the stock was 19% up today, by accident was my 2nd (smaller) buy order (quoted CAD 0.25) deleted by my broker and i didnt read their corresponding email (i never do from my employer's office), the stock closed 10% higher @ CAD 0.275 ... well, im not sure if i should try 2 get it @ CAD 0.25 tomorrow or prolly buy some other stock?
      • amerigo resources - copper & molybdenum in chile, increased existing portfolio position
      • scorpio mining - silver & zinc & lead in mexico, increased existing portfolio position
      • sued-chemie - special chemistry in munich/germany => my next AGM candidate! a completely crazy stock! there is nearly NO TRADING VOLUME at all!!! 2day there were just 124 shares sold in whole germany! on friday none (my order was not filled as well)! there ist mostly no bid quote (=no possibility 2 buy) out there, there is always a strange ask quote with no relation 2 previous day and even without any relation to general market movement, very strange shareholder structure: JP morgan chase owns 50.4% of the company (hell, what does that mean?!?!?!? hell, is it prolly even some 'strong hands' group of people represented by some JPM's fund?), 3 more groups/families with approx 10%, me with 2 shares, there are 15.8% of free-floating shares => very very strange, isnt it?), IMHO it looks like if some group of folks is baiting the remaining shareholders (lets collect all shares at given level and increase the price the next day 2 collect next available shares ... soooo strange, u know? ... well, the earnings in crashy 2009 were not much lower than company's average but there was no dividend at all (=> the next false trick in order 2 shake the weak hands out?), btw, a former colleague of mine works at sued-chemie and she believes the company is doing well .... last but not least, we are not speaking abt a pennystock right now! sued-chemie is a giant established back in 1857, with 6,500 employees and revenues of €1.2 billion. btw, ive paid 100 €uros per share + commissions on the 1st opportunity where there was an ask quote out there and thus 5 €uros more than a week ago initially intended (~all-time-high @ approx 109 was reached few weeks ago) ... well, lets visit their AGM next year and lets look at these strange folks a little bit closer :-)
      • ?
      • ??
      • ??? (.... a short night in between. hell, its soooo late again :-( . + still some money left for 1 or 2 additional positions :-)
      • ??
      • ?
      • aurizon mines - gold production in queebec / canada. motto? the best place to find gold...is in a gold mine. folks, i dont think so ... u know ive been in a gold mine already, its not that easy there! what abt fort knox? sorry 4 that! just a stupid joke. of course, there is no gold in fort knox anymore :-)
      • penn west energy trust - ive increased my stake in that canadian gas + oil producer, steadily monthly dividends, a lean-back-and-enjoy long term investment ...
that investment stuff is sooo easy

addendum 05/31/2010: greystarrrrrrrr! folks, im both, a lucky alien and stupid idiot, u know? well, my intergalactic stock analysis (see the original blog post above ;-) told me 2 buy greystar resources on friday and 2day (~the very next trading session!) is the stock+44.41% uuuuuuup! of course, a positive decision on that strange colombian environmental issue ... why am i a stupid idiot as well? hell, ive bought only 100 shares (approx 300 €uros) and not 10m instead? any lessons learned? yep, im going 2 study the famous ‘fat finger’ technique, promised!

btw, how does investor luck look like?

btw, how does bad luck look like? well, it looks the same ... in case you have bought before the crash and sold after cos of some stupid stop-loss-limits or the like ... luck is always just matter of perspective, u know?

eom ;-(   ... end of money
eof :-)   ... end of file

#jarobuys yukon-nevada gold (YNG) + quantum rare earth (QRE) and listens 2 monument mining (MMY)

      what a day 2day!

during my loooong lunch break ive attended an investors presentation in the centre of munich. bob baldock, the CEO of yukon-nevada gold (YNG) + monument mining (MMY) presented his companies to a small group of (smart?) investors in a nice tourist restaurant across from munich's opera house. the event was organized by my old friends, their german IR agency axino as one of many investors conferences in europe (switzerland + germany?).

you still remember my malaysian gold investment monument mining? i think there is everything fine with them! the production is increasing steadily, the next financing should provide +10m for operating purposes, no tax on profits the next 5 years + stable political / economical situation + many opportunities for future growth in malaysia, ... well, even the the stock price didnt participate in the recent rally of its peer group, i think its gonna 2 be a nice low-risk huge-upside-potential long-term investment :-)

what abt yukon-nevada gold? the company's market capitalization dropped from $300m to $3m approx a year ago, their 4 nevada mines + their mill were closed and the company was nearly bankrupt ... hell, thats a situation when bob steps into a deal! 2day is all environmental permitting in nevada succesfully finished, the company's financing for the next few steps secured, 2 out of 4 mines and the mill producing on initial volumes again and YNG is going 2 increase the ore + gold output soon ... well, i bought few shares at current level (even if the current market capitalization is approx CAD 142m, the share price CAD 0.245 is still cheap i think). so lets subscribe for company's newsletter and follow its development + lets hope there will be a moment in the future when there will be both, some money in my pockets + a reasonable share price in order 2 increase the volume of that new portfolio position. hmmmmm, do u think i should beg my wife + kids for that money again?

after my (at the moment soooo boring + senseless) office job ive attended the 2nd investors meeting ~ the presentation of quantum rare earth (QRE) at the cm-equity office ... did u know i was already an (indirect) shareholder of QRE through my zimtu capital investment? i think the rare earths will soon replace lithium as the next boomimg commodity sector (... oil, gold, silver, zinc, nickel, uranium, sugar, lithium, ... every commodity seems to get its chance 2 perform like crazy for a while and then settle down again :-). well, again, lets subscribe for company's newsletter and follow its development + lets hope there will be a moment in the future when there will be both, some money in my pockets + a reasonable share price in order 2 increase the volume of that portfolio position ...

folks, of course i do know that these young / underdeveloped / underfinanced companies need plenty of additional capital + plenty of time to become succesful fighters out there + provide steady cash-flows, pay dividends etc + etc ... but i simply like these kind of investment stories and the upside potential these companies provide if everything will work out even :-)

welcome + good luck, my sweet portfolio warriors!

addendum 01/04/2010: #jarobuys a small initial position in quantum rare earth (QRE) even if there could be some warrants/options exercise orgy in april which could lead to temporarily lower share price ... but who knows that for sure? folks, IMHO is QRE still cheap like an unwanted pet, so who cares?

btw, ive increased also my stake in the promising junior gold explorer rocmec mining (RMI) a little bit as i believe the current bankruptcy related stock price doesnt reflect the latest positive company developments . btw, i was angry like devil abt my (unknown) fellow programmers at lynx brokers as these stupid idiots cannot compute the margin + commission requirements for penny stocks properly and even if i still had a plus balance of CAD 50 or the like, i couldnt submit the order for multiples of 1,000 shares and thus i had to order also a 900 shares lot because of some stupid 'missing' CAD 7 (seven!). the newbie guy at the telephone hotline couldnt do anything abt that as well ... i hate them 2day, of course

good luck, my lovely rare earth investment

#jarobuys silver producer scorpio mining AGAIN + linear gold + halo resources + moly mines + oroco res. + cardero res. :o)

hell, scorpio (TSX: SPM) was already my biggest position, but i've added few more shares 2day. why? the company's news flow is soooooo great, they've just bought a gold project in nevada (well, there must be lot of gold, i think, just look at few of my nevada based companies like u.s. gold, miranda gold, vg gold, coral gold, ... here and of course, do not forget the big ones like barrick, newmont, etc!) ... got it?... they've bought => they have money => they do not need any stupid financing, they can afford to expand their growth from own resources ... well, i guess their silver-zinc-lead-copper 'nuestra senora' mine in mexico produces enough cash for this kind of acquisitions, you know?

what abt mr. market? well, the stock is despite the right now soaring gold/silver prices down -1.52% => ??? => what's your guess, who is right this time?

      a) me
      b) mr. market
      c) both
      d) none of us

hell, that investment stuff is soooooo easy

      addendum 01/13/2010:
yabbadabbadooo! folks, i've welcomed the crashy gold/silver prices the last 2 days and increased my scorpio minig position @ CAD 0.67 and CAD 0.68 a lot (at least a lot from my newly @ lynx brokers opened account's size perspective ) + entered a small initial position in linear gold (LRR @TSX). well, i could get linear gold quite cheap! folks, is there a chap/girl out there who would explain the strange behavior of scorpio mining 2 me? hell, they didn't break apart like the most companies in their peer group did (abt 7-15% down in 2 days) ... but they also do not go up now as their peers do right now ... and it is not abt the volume as the volume remains avarage except 5th of january, where there was maybe 7 to 10 times the average volume i think ,,, => any ideas out there?

      addendum 01/18/2010:
OMG! just 2 trading days later! scorpio is +11.94% today! the volume was approx twice the usual amount! no news, of course :-). my guess?
1.) these many stupid folks who were willing to sell their scorpio shares that cheap are out of the market
2.) these few folks who want to increase/enter their positions understood that there will never be a cheaper share price out there, so they started to buy at current price and bid it up a little bit :-)

btw, i have bought a small initial position in an additional canadian microcap, the gold-copper-zinc explorer halo resources (TSX: HLO). why? well, i couldn't longer watch how my limit order is not going to be fullfilled and the share price is climbing higher & higher ... so i have increased my limit from CAD 0.05 to CAD 0.1 today and got few shares @ CAD 0.095 ... damn! of course, it is expensive like hell and close to the yesterday's new 52 weeks high and the like and so on ... but you know what? i had no money a month ago as halo traded @ CAD 0.05 because i've waited for the 'capitalization' of my new brokerage account and also bought other stuff and also hoped halo will come back into its former (lower) trading range, so what? well, if the share price should fell to CAD 0.06 or CAD 0.05 sometime in the future i will prolly buy few more shares ... if not? hmmmmm, i will enjoy the development of my current position i think :-)

addendum 02/06/2010: folks, in the last crashy week there were 3 more low-low-low buy limit orders hit and so i could get moly mines (molybdenum in australia), oroco resources (gold in mexico. btw, i got the shares @ CAD 0.22 despite the recent private placement in favor of management & insiders @ CAD 0.25 per share) and increased my stake in cardero resources (iron ore in peru)

hell, hell, hell! that investment stuff is soooooo damned easy

addendum 04/06/2010: i was right, mr. market was wrong, wrong, wrong :-)

yabbadabbdoooo! scorpio mining (SPM) is +20.3% today (a new much much much higher 52 weeks high!), ten times the usual volume, no news, of course! the latest news release 2 days ago deflagrated without any impact cos the stock traded +0.0% the whole day after the earnings message came out => markets are inefficient, of course!

euphoria, pls never go away from me (to the next investor / money manager / hedge fund / trader or the like) ...

#jarobuys silver, acadian mining, kws saat, private owned, bravo venture

folks, after our cheaper than expected vacation there is still some money left into my pockets => let's go shopping :-)

      • silver long $17.33 (incl. spread, no commissions) - i thought the silver price will bounce back up 2 days ago, it didn't ... therefore i expect my stop loss limit @ 16.93 will become active soon if it already didn't yesterday evening as i can't open my trading platform just now (that would be a loss of $40 per 1 CFD contract) ... #jarosells silver @ $16.93, my position got wiped out. i'm not sure if the silver future actually fell bellow $16.95 on friday as my favorite commodity-price-website shows the daily low $16.99 instead. i will check that later, but just in case when silver will not fell bellow my limit on monday in some more regular way ... anyway, my OTC broker is also the market maker in that CFD trading platform and thus 'allowed' to make its own quotes ...
      • acadian mining €0.054 (without commissions) - one of very few precious metals explorers/producers where the share price didn't advance 20-50% in the last month in the recent bull market upswing ... i think the share price of acadian mining could start to reflect that soooo positive news flow soon, what's your opinion?
      • bravo venture €0.336 (without commissions) - like acadian, bravo also didn't advance much in the last 4 weeks, yesterday it even fell bellow my purchase level. let's watch how will that position develop in the next months/years :-)
      • kws saat €114.6 (without commissions) - well, i had no extra 200 €uros few months ago 2 buy 2 shares when that big german agricultural (seeds) producer (watch out, monsanto!) quoted bellow €100. even with the commission of €10 my avarage price would stay bellow 100 €uros. on wednesday i've bought 3 shares and moved that position from my watchlist into my portfolio finally! i liked the owner structure of that traditional stock (est. 1856) as there are still 2 families who own a major part of the company (56%) and i'm sure that unlike bonus-oriented-managers of common stock companies the owners wish that the company will provide profits also for their next generations. let's take part in that! btw, a buddy of mine is a remote relative of the actual owners, that's the reason i know the company :-). a small bonus 4 mathematicians among us: folks, what do u think, at what price would my profit on 3 a little bit more expensive purchased shares overweight the profit of 2 cheaper purchased shares? in the 1st step (to make that exercise easier) pls do not consider the dividend of €1.70 per share in your calculations, but 2 get the whole 'picture' u should do it in the 2nd step, will u? hmmmmmm, did warren buffett say that the biggest part of the profit in stock investing is in the cheap purchase price? or was it someone else? it's prolly right ... the solution for the 1st step of our '3 vs. 2 shares computing game' shows that the break even point will be reached at about the €150 level! there is still a long way 2 go, isn't it?

good luck my shiny investments :-)

ps: when is the best time 2 sell gold/silver and gold/silver stocks? i think we could use the gold-dow-ratio as an proper indicator again. let's think about selling when the ratio will reach levels bellow 3. what's your opinion?

addendum, december 18, 2009: hell! 2day is the moment i've understood what private companies are there for!

folks, you still remember my purchase of few shares of KWS saat, the traditional german seeds/agriculture specialists? they are controlled by 2 families and there is just abt 33.1% of free floating shares on the market ... i'm just gonna 2 tell u the issue #2 from their AGM 2009 invitation (btw, the #1 was just some sort of 'hello folks' i think :-):

Re item 2 on the agenda: Resolution on the appropriation of the net retained profit

The Executive Board and the Supervisory Board propose utilizing the net retained profit of € 12,310,000.00 from the net income of KWSSAAT AG for 2008/2009 as follows: Distribution of a dividend of € 1,80 for each of the total of 6,600,000 shares € 11,880.000.00. Net profit brought forward € 430,000.00. The dividend will be paid on or after December 18, 2009.

now u also know the purpose of private companies, don't u? hell, it is sooo easy! just 2 make money for the owners :-)

      #jarobuys VERBUNDGESELLSCHAFT

folks, let's take some advantage from lower prices after few days of fear and panic on the stock markets and open a small initial position in that sympathetic austrian green energy producer (esp. water power :-).

well, they are approx. 45% down from their all-time-high in winter 2008 (still remember the damned oil quotations up to $150?), they pay dividends about 3%, there should always be need 4 energy and thus some business 4 verbund ...

btw, why not a huuuuuuuge position straight away? damn! are you kidding? you know i've invested already much more as i should recently (still remember the plundered funds of last resort?)good luck, my green portfolio member :-)

#jarobuys acadian mining, ECU silver, sabina silver ... OR who's opinion is right? mr. market's or mine?

well, i do not believe there is much time left 2 buy commodities soooooo cheap for too long especially gold, silver, gas, agriculture ...let's buy some more explorer stocks!
      • acadian mining - Zn, Pb, Ag, Cu, Au in nova scotia / canada. that guys have been HIGHLY bankruptcy endangered few weeks/months ago, but now, where the legal protection (~ canadian chapter 11) on their major asset nova scotia mine is well resolved + a strategical partner invested about $10m + the operations commenced again .... now should be everything fine, well? but why is the stock price still sooooo damned down?!? why does the market not recognize that issue? what's wrong? anyway, let's bet on their recovery! mr. time will prove (soon?) who's opinion was right , mr. market's or mine? btw, what's your guess?
      • sabina silver - Zn, Pb, Ag ... i think they've plenty of cash 2 continue the development of their hackett river mine ... let's lean back + enjoy their progress
      • ECU silver - Ag! they do already produce some silver, have strong partnership with industry leader pan american silver, just the share price doesn't respond accordingly ... who's wrong here? again mr. market? let's bet on that also

ps: folks, pls don't tell my wife i 'wasted' next money on stocks, she'd kill me i think ...

      Wednesday, August 5, 2009

damned stupid! (u.s. silver instead of uc resources)

folks, i've missed the right silver company just by 1 place in my portfolio list!

well, u.s. silver rose a little bit (+7%), but the proper silver guys are their name-neighbors uc resources!!! they rocketed +45% today (intraday even +55%). what about the volume? yep, 18 times the usual heap i.e. 3.9m shares instead of 200k .

what makes our poor homo sapiens financialis that crazy? is there any possible explanation? well, they've announced today:

UC Resources has Commenced Drilling at McFaulds Lake, 9:14 AM ET, August 4, 2009 ...

whaaaaaat? they've just started drilling? they didn't find anything yet? it's august now, the drilling season mostly over! hell, that's damned late 2 start drilling @ some stupid lake!!!

btw, what's your opinion? maybe are there some folks who know more than that or maybe even mr. market himself!

ps: explorer stocks are so crazy & sometimes sooooo exciting :-)

pps: still remember vg gold? they're +11.77% today => closed @ CAD 0.38

      addendum, november 26, 2009:
well, that was a BAAAAAD quarterly report @ u.s. silver yesterday :-(

hell, a small loss even at these really high silver prices, cash costs per ounce increased from $11 to $13 ...

oh my dear! my mexican and peruvian producers have cash costs of approx $3 - $6, my base metals producers with silver as by-product abt $1 (@ scorpio mining i think) and there was also a company which has reported cash costs for silver of MINUS $5. silver for -5 usd? folks, got it? that's much, much, much better than silver for free! if they sold all their zinc, led, copper, they've made a profit above $5 and still have all that shiny silver on top! ... well, i didn't remember the name of that company, i think it was prolly one from the trio endeavor silver, 1st majestic silver, fortuna silver ... but i could be wrong on that ... you know, i have more than 30 silver companies in my portfolio as i can't store all of them in a single watch list @ tsx website :o)

hell, let's hope the metal prices in Q4 will support u.s. silver a lot + their stock price will skyrocket soon + i will reach the winning zone again (btw, even if the last purchase shows a profit of abt 13% i'm still abt 15% down on u.s. silver)

      c'est la vie ...

      go, silver, go !!!
