think global, act local => #jarobuys local: data modul + KGHM (top world silver producer 2011)

even if i like nice 'cinderella' stories of small undervalued mining and exploration companies from all over the world, let's give the fat cats also their chance. my wife i.e. best of all wives is polish, so why not to include a polish company into my portfolio? especially a company, which mines in lower silesia (slansk, schlesien, sliezsko) we pass by on our trips from munich to lodz few times a year? what do you suggest, should i visit a mine (or the company museum) on our xmas trip to lodz on saturday? nope, not at our upcoming night trip, but maybe sometimes in summer.

dear KGHM polish copper, welcome to my portfolio. KGHM is not only one of the biggest copper producers in the world (#10 in 2011) but it is the single biggest silver producer in the world as well, just see the picture below. hmmmm, not bad for a by-product point of view, isn't it? although it employs 28,000 people it is still a relatively small company in terms of market cap with only approximately $9 billion. why so low? well, mr. market does not understand much about eastern europe, if you asked me :-). any other investment related topics? yes, there are at least two more: it is a partially state owned company (31.79% owned by polish treasury and 68.21? by other investors like me). what's the other issue? it is linked to the first one: KGHM pays fat dividends, often more than 50% of its profit. why? of course, 'the' state always needs money. that was an easy one, true?

top silver producers 2011

source: here

my 2nd purchase this week? data modul, my home town (munich) based high-tech company which produces displays, embedded systems, printers and the like ...

well, i had both companies on my watch list for a long time, but didn't had money to buy any shares, so i used my xmas salary payment from the end of november to finally add these 2 companies to my portfolio. of course, the price was much much higher than it would be after the summer market crash, but i do not worry too much about it as i know, that unlike the state i only can buy some stuff when i have the money to do so ...

good luck my two pretty portfolio fighters, good luck :-)

fino, a fat cat too

time2think @ the top of germany

a view from an orange cab ;-)

the winter is over! well, at least for me ... last weekend ice skating, 2day the last skiing of the season => my winter feeling is satisfied .... and yes, on friday there should be 20 degrees celsius in munich ...

bad, bad, bad luck 2day ~ foggy clouds over there (all the time) ~ wtf, dark room skiing?!?
the better moments, here i see 2 track marks ...

any cold comfort? yep, i was alone, didnt see much, so i could think a lot abt me, my life, the universe ... and you know what? im such a lucky alien, just look: im healthy, have one of the prettiest wives in the universe (no, u will not get any pictures, phone numbers and the like ... but if u need a hypnosis therapist, u could ask the best of all women), two sweet and almost self-reliant children, rich parents, a website with 1,800 readers a month (or at least that many clicks), .... quite a lot, isnt it?

well, so what 2 do? easy, lets save the democracy + the nature/planet ;-)

few more zugspitze pics? here :-)

salzburg / austria

the best of all wives and me have just spent 2 days in salzburg ("salt-castle" or mozart-city???), austria => great! yes, salt made this city rich and the riches made all that buildings possible which 2day provide salzburg the status of unesco's world cultural heritage ... simply salt, hmmmm :-)

my crazy wife has visited an (esoteric) healing seminar by richard bartlett. what abt me? well, on day #1 ive been in the most streets, churches, hills, castles of salzburg i believe ... i was sorry i couldnt meet mozart, prolly he is already dead ..... anyway, my feet hurt like hell .... but what to do tomorrow? no, im not going to run all that hills up and down again, no way! ----- well, i would prolly like to see the hellbrunn castle ... or shoudda try the bars tomorrow? or go outside the city? hmmmmm, any idea(s) out there?

well, my friends suggested i should eat as many mozartkugels / mozart balls as possible, but ive decided 2 do s.th. completely different:
  • hellbrunn castle ~ very very nice gardens, water / fountains, sculptures, inner architecture (rooms / paintings) as seen in the brochures cos i didnt like to visit the main attractions ZOO + the inside exhibition of this beautiful maison de plaisance 2day. why? my goal were the nearby alps ;-)
  • salt mine in bad dürrnberg ~ already the celts produced salt inside these hills! as there was not much else what could be used to preserve the food in the pre-refrigerator-era, salt was precious and costly for centuries (“white gold”). many centuries later, in the medieval age, there was already a mass production of salt via the leaching 'technology'. wanna more details? follow the museum-link ... imho is this museum a great new experience for those who havent been in a (salt) mine yet (like the one in bad reichenhall / germany) and on top a great opportunity to enter bavaria / germany without passport underground ;-)
  • celtic village ~ space filler instead of waiting 30 minutes for the salt mine guided tour, the ticket was included in the price of the salt mine visit and so were the hallein's museums later in the afternoon
  • lunch in bavaria ~ much better beer than in austria, just think abt the oktoberfest, my dear :-)
  • obersalzberg ~ i didnt like the spirit there and of course didnt visit hitlers eagle nest (kehlsteinheim) or the exhibition .... it would for sure depress me a lot, i see no reason 2 carry that feelings with me
  • hallein ~ a small city on the salzach river, celtic museum, the museum of "Silent Night" (German: "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht") ~ a xmas carol composed by franz xaver gruber in 1818 .... hmmmm, do u think this guy and me are some kind of relatives and i could market that song in some way or the other? lol
  • salzburg ~ traffic jam

more pictures? here we go 2 my google album (i hope u will enjoy this foto album even if the zoom function of my camara was broken ...

robert betz ~ wanna be normal or happy?

(source: www.kepguru.hu)

just attended a presentation by robert betz with my esoteric wife + eldest daughter ... afterwards we spent some time talking abt our family in a nearby bar ....

do u think this guy was happy in his lifetime? at least he seems to be happy to stay in the hall in front of the herkules hall in munich's residenz, where the event took place ...

well, ive fallen asleep in the first few minutes (while hearing the first of 3 meditation songs), but wake up short afterwards as a visitor wanted to pass forward through my place ... well, robert mentioned some interesting ideas/concepts ...  LOVE is the major principle + solution 4 the future :-)
  • the current awakening of consciousness all over the world
  • doomsday 2012 ~ a new beginning for happier + honest + conscious world
  • everyone is responsible for his/her own health + happiness, not the world or the others
  • are you happy if you wake up in the morning and have to go 2 your work?
  • dont carry a backpack of problems from your life (childhood, school, work, ...) with you into the presence and future
  • add quality 2 your life (food, clothes, spare time, ...)
  • love yourself + your body
  • sex ~ of course, sex is important ... but it was too much + too stupid 4 my taste
  • olive oil ~ he sells not only his books + videos, but also olive oil from his greek farm
  • LOVE is the major principle + solution 4 the future (both in private and business life :-)
    more insights? .... coming soon or never :-)

    the 2nd relaxation song was from secret garden, but a different one :-)

    is there also a call 4 awakening from the musicians all over the world?

    my best investment?

    what abt my best investment? of course, best just in terms of money ... please dont think abt investment in education, in my wife (thx goodness, i've got her! nobody would work all day for sooooo many years without any salary, u know? lol), invetment in peace, future of planet earth or any 'feel good' stuff. pls think here just in terms of investment return, ok? what abt craaaazy +703% in 1 year? damned hell, why did i not bought that stock 2 months earlier (in 2008) as that would be a tax free profit in that 'old german tax law' case :-(

    folks, it is the gold explorer levon resources (TSX.V: LVN, company website). i've bought 5,000 shares in late february 2009 because of all the good news in their newsletters i've subscribed for some time and because of the cheap price. well, i couldnt understand why did the share price not skyrocket on all the great prospects so i've decided 2 take a bet against mr. market, you know? i just thought, damn, it is not a valid reason 2 keep the price down just because nobody wants that stock or because the overall market collapsed (in march)! do u agree abt these points 2day, my dear mr. market, dont u? well, the stock price didnt do much in the next few months ... then doubled in june ... and came back in july again ... in order 2 wake up mr. market from his lethargy i wrote a blog post abt the riiiiising gold price acceleration in august 2009. well, mr. market got the message, gold climbed from $935 up to $1,200 and levon from my entry level @ EUR 0.079 up to EUR 0.663 (= the intraday all-time-high level yesterday = CAD 0.93)! gold exploration business is soooooo crazy, isn't it?

    question #1: how does an increase of +703.78% look like? no clue? hmmmmm, it looks like that (all quotes in CAD, view full page here):

    (5 years vs. 6 months vs. intraday)

    question #2: how does it look like if an investment doesnt do well? hmmmmm, it looks the same, u just have 2 turn your head left or rotate the chart by 90 degrees in the clockwise direction. easy, isnt it? btw, im not going to post the corresponding charts of failed investments here. few of them are still in my portfolio (sterling mining, qimonda, RBS, hy lake, buffalo gold, ...), few others disappeared from the quotations list after their bankruptcy :-(

    question #3: when is the right time 2 sell a stock like levon resources? thats easy! just look into my crystal ball and/or ask my dear 100-years-old indicator, the dow-gold-ratio :-)

    james turk's great presentation abt gold, money, currencies, economy ...

    addendum december 2012: outlook 2013 - 2015, enjoy :-)
    James Turk's Outlook for Gold for 2013 to 2015

    ~~~
    folks, what we see in stocks, gold, commodities, ... is IMO the fear about USD out there. the folks (americans & foreigners) are trying (at the same time!) to escape from their paper USD assets and to buy some hard assets at any price!
    no matter how expensive gold and other commodities are, let's change the dollars into real value (e.g. india's central bank purchased 200 tonnes gold at record price from IMF last week, the second half of IMFs fire sale will prolly go to china soon ...)
    no matter how disastrous the current economic data is (record unemployment data, record P/E ratios because of soooooo sad earnings outlook, ...), the folks are buying stocks because a stock represents a piece of company/business and is not only a worth-less promise of u.s. government like a dollar note is (bye-bye fiat currencies!)
    => WE ARE IN THE EARLY PHASE OF AN INFLATIONARY HARD ASSETS RALLY !!!
    btw, i do not think the €uro is much better than the USD and IMO it would collapse just few seconds later, because the ECB is not so committed to fight against inflation as the good old german bundesbank was (... do not forget, we germans had twice hyperinflation in the last 100 years, so the bundesbank still remembers the impacts of hyperinflation in some way)
    james turk in munich!
    well, james turk told yesterday in his great presentation at the munich's precious metals fair (presentation should be available at www.goldmoney.com in approx. 2 weeks in english + german), that the tipping point for the USD is just weeks/months ahead (before summer 2010?) and -if nothing changes- usa is heading to inflation / hyperinflation of deposit accounts like argentina was few years ago! pls do not ask me what deposit-accounts-inflation concrete is as i have no clue abt that, i just would tell you that we can be lucky because we don't have to carry waggons of paper money :o). what a cold comfort, isn't it? the folks in germany in 1920ies or in zimbabwe 2 years ago in their paper-money inflation had 2 carry a lot of paper 2 get anything real ... btw, as far as i know there is no zimbabwean currency at the moment and they use foreign currencies like usd, €uro, rand instead.
    folks, i do not wanna destroy your believes abt gold, james turk and the universe, but do u know what such an internationally well known gold bug as james really told? hmmm, should i squeal that? hmmmm. ok, here we go: ... "gold is a lousy investment" ... from his point of view does gold 'just' keep its buying power, it is not an investment vehicle itself. well, james considers gold as money + he recommends strongly to keep our savings in gold/silver (and add to it every month on dollar-averaging-base no matter how high/low the current gold price is) instead of keeping savings in any fiat currency! at least for the last 10 years he is right, just look at the most emphasized chart from his presentation about the yearly change of gold price in major currencies (pls do not overlook the highlighted double digit gains in each paper currency on average!):
    GOLD against major currencies, 10 years chart
    (source: james turk / goldmoney.com / november 2009)
    btw, what about the gold/silver backed amero, am€uro, global, golddollar, gulfdinar, goldyuan, goldrubel soon?
    of course, do not forget 2 read my big picture outlook for stocks, bonds, gold, commodities here
    addendum, dec 13, 2009 ~ precious metals calculator :-)
    ohhhhhh, what a useful + funny thing at james' website! did u asked already yourself s.th. like 'hell, how much gold and/or SILVER can i buy with the lousy 50 €uros which my wife didn't find in my pockets yesterday?' of course u did, didn't u? well, there is a big, big, big help 4 folks like you and me on the goldmoney.com website! the online paper-metal-translating-machine ....
    ps: sorry forexer, the singapore currency (dollar?) isn't covered yet, but u could ask 4 enhancement, i think :o)
    pps: what's the answer 2 my question 2day?
    With €50.00 you can buy 1.985 goldgrams at a buy rate of €25.1874/gg (including our fee). We apply a 2.74% fee on top of the Gold spot price of €24.5156/gg.
    addendum, june 4, 2011:
    folks, it's weekend, u know?
    well, finally i have some time to bother my mouse in order to click wildly from webpage 2 webpage, from story 2 story, from interview 2 interview ... great!
    king world news seems to be my No. 1 today, wanna listen 9 minutes to james turk's audio explanation of recent gold/silver price correction and his outlook for the gold/silver markets? here we go:
    vacation @ bali / indonesia :-)
    watch out indonesia, watch out komodo dragons, we are coming :-)
    folks, of course i'm happy 2 leave tomorrow 2 bali and see a new countryside, new people, new culture ... but i'm such a stupid idiot!!!! i've lost my credit card today :-(. well, i hope i will find it tomorrow morning somewhere in the kitchen or the like. if not i have to call the card company from the airport and block my account ...
    damned hell! three weeks completely dependent on my wife as she still has her credit cards. oh, my dear :-(
    update on 31 augustus 2009 (thx, MS windows)
    service desert germany! folks, it was NOT POSSIBLE to block just my lost card! even not possible to speak to a real person! well, we have blocked ALL credit cards of our account at the automatic phone service ... any cold comfort? yeahhh, i hold all eur & usd cash, so now is my wife dependent on me!
    BALI? small + nice + friendly! thx goodness bali is shaped by very tolerant hindu religion, so it is a pleasure to move around, meet people etc.
    we have seen some temples, rice terraces, villages, jungle, volcanos already ... tomorrow rafting + elephant trekking ... and the most time: pool, beach, books, waves + sun :-)
    update on september, 6th 2009 ... => new monetary system? candy money!
    folks, indonesia has launched a new monetary system yet - CANDY MONEY -
    well, in a country where prolly everyone is a millionaire and even tourists becomes millionaires by changing $100 in local currency - rupiah - there should be some problems with change coins, isn't it? btw, how would you give back a change of 43,350 rupiah if the smallest common coin is 500 rupiah? here we go, it is 43,000 in bad quality paper money + 3 menthol candys
    watch out, money markets! watch out, fx traders!! watch out, central banks!!! watch out, inflation!!!!! the candy money system arrived on planet earth :-)
    well, the cash desks in big indonesian supermarkets are full of paper money (bad taste) and sweets (also money, but really good taste)
    update on september, 16th 2009 ... => back @home
    hi mates,
    i'm back now ... it was really nice + interesting + i've finally got some cash through the EC-money-card of our eldest daughter after 2 weeks (~ EuroCheck, just an european account card, not a 'real' credit card like visa, master card)
    my overall impressions? there are sooo many of them ... nice countryside; dangerous waves designed just 4 surfers and not for swimmers only visitors with children like us; very commercial tourist services; baksheesh; crowded streets; dogs & chickens walking on the streets; walls + walls + walls everywhere (holding deamons aside?); rice terraces; volcanos; very similar looking temples; gods & ghosts & deamons; IMHO very inefficient spent money on gift sets 4 gods/ghost (3 x daily) and especially on very costly religious ceremonies e.g. 4 burning died family members; exotic fruits (rambutan, mangosteen, papaya, dragon fruit, snake fruit, passion fruit, maracuja, durian [pfui teufl! smells and tastes like toilet! how can mankind plant & eat s.th. like that? DO NOT TRY it !], pineapple, java cherry [folks, i've tried few of them straight from the tree without peeling or boiling them and survived! prolly 'caus i've felt already like at home there and thus even didn't wash them ] + some others where i've forgotten the names already ..., almost only japanese motocycles + cars [heya european + american producers, did u forgot that part of earth?], cheap restaurants with very friendly staff, almost everywhere free wireless internet access available [europe is years behind indonesia in that area!], super duper thai airways service and sooo modern plane equipment => well, everyone had his own screen + remote control panel and thus i could watch movies or play games against any other passenger on board, but after loosing many times in a row against my daughters even in my former favorite game TETRIS i didn't challenge any passenger as i've been sooooo ashamed ... but loosing on the finance markets causes even more pain, isn't it?
    what about my trip 2 java 2 unesco's world cultural heritage temples borobudur (budhist) + prambanan (hinduist)? first of all, i had to change all my believes about java there!!! it was not crowded + 100% urbanized + without any field / forest / park / free space / etc. there!!! at least not in the yogjakarta area. by some coincidence of fortune i've got an experienced and sooooo inteligent + friendly travel guide there just for me alone, what a nice day!
    btw, i will also post some travel pictures on picasa / facebook / twitter soon.
    ps: my stocks went up like crazy in the last 3 'vacation' weeks, mostly because of advanced gold/silver prices and of course besause of the advanced general stock market. folks, i still hate the crashy october 2008 soooo much! btw, U2? well, if my stocks would rise approx. 1% further my open positions would reach THE BREAK-EVEN-POINT. could you imagine my wife's and my children's surprise? after 3+ years of suffering the hell on earth there would be no damned commets like you fat damned stupid money wasting gorilla moron, you! i hate you sooo much! go to hell or die or both and take all your stupid stocks with you! ... would i hear s.th. like my sweet gorilla guru instead? no way! you don't know my family yet! LOL, just kidding ... btw, it's crazy, but my stocks increased in the recent upswing far-far-far more than i've spend for our 4-folks-family for 3 weeks in indonesia including flight, hotel, trips, gifts, souvenirs, donations, etc.
    hey! i like bull markets like the devil the hell . btw, i'm not going 2 sell any stocks soon! why? it's a bull market, you know? i will wait till the gold-dow-ratio will reach at least the level 2 or 3. in the last gold bull market in 1980 fell that ratio to 1. folks, that means 1 oz gold bought the whole dow jones index! great, isn't it?
    pps: i've read 2 real interesting investing books there:
    A) a special edition about MONEY from spiegel magazine (greeks, romans, gold, silver, kings, trade, industrialization, fiorentina, peruzzis, bardis, medicis, venice, germany, fuggers, holland, tulip bubble, john law, paper money (evil!), south sea company bubble, rothshilds, 1929, inflation, hyperinflation, roosevelt, world wars, karl marx, rockefeller, bretton woods, gold standard, vietnam, nixon, fiat money (evil!), greenspan, internet bubble, bernanke, warren buffet, lehman brothers, the current housing & financial mess out there ... and much more ... just the indonesian inflationary candy money system wasn't mentioned at all => ?!?)
    B) my 1st re-read of lefebre's soooo great 'reminiscences of a stock operator' ... well, i'll watch out like hell to NOT REPEAT jesse livermore's mistakes myself AGAIN :-)
    final update on september, 17th 2009 ... => pictures uploaded
    1) java fotos
    2) bali fotos
    3) my portfolio in the winning zone again ... after a looooooong time (1+ year?) my stock investments turned positive again! nevertheless, i still hate that damned crashy october 2008
    Tuesday, July 14, 2009
    what's the best book for vacation?
    folks, i still couldn't finish benjamin graham's intelligent investor yet (an really interesting but hard and slowly to read lecture for 'defensive investor')
    ... but i would like to take s.th. more funny with me ... hell, what do u think: should i take jack schwager with me
    ... or peter lynch?
    or better my wife + the kiddies? just kidding :-)
    btw, what are my all-time-favorites? well, here we go !!!
