silver conference in traditional hotel platzl, munich + trump driven market crash :o)

there was a looong and quite interesting silvercon aka silver conference aka roadshow of 6 junior mining and/or exploration companies in munich today.

6 companies => 3 hours => tasty lunch => back to my office to finish some stuff today ...  well, 6 companies a 30 minutes without any real break are too much for 1 day ...

avino silver's CEO david wolfin presents his company at hotel platzl, munich

it was like a deja vu experience for me as i've stopped to join this kind of conferences / road shows few years ago, well before the corona plandemic in 2020 ... why? easy! i've generally lost money when i've invested in this kind of small caps. they usually make roadshows / investors' lunch / investrors' presentations in order to collect money for the next round of financing as they usually issue new shares in order to continue drilling & operating in general sence ...
why did i attend this time? there was 1 company (avino silver) which i like and the show was in the well known hotel platzl in the very center of munich, where i've never been in before. to be honest, i didnt like the hotel at all: not nice from outside, not nice and not any special from inside, no nice views out of the windows ... you name it 😄

after all that cons, lets try to find few pros here:
  • the food / lunch was delicious
  • the conference room was fine and even somehow nice
  • they've had a shoe polish machine 💕in the corridor in their conference area
the traditional hotel platzl, munich
historical views at silver one's project candelaria, nevada, usa

who was here today?
  • avino silver (TSX: ASM, NYSE: ASM) ~ it looks quite good for the company. they have opened a new silver mine in mexico in Q4/2024 and thus increased their production + cash flow + profit + share price as well. i've already few shares and i've bought few more at approx 2.35 CAD, so i'm happy to see that my company is doing well
  • silver storm mining (TSXV: SVRS) ~ they try to re-open the former 1st majestic silver's (TSX: A, NYSE: AG) la parilla mine in the state of durango, mexico. btw, 1st majestic is the single biggest shareholder of silver storm today => i've bought few shares at 0.135 CAD incl. broker's fee in order to watch the company's development in my portfolio ... addendum august 2025: silver storm accuired till capital (TSXV: TIL) on july, 18th, which itself swallowed few of my almost bankrupt mining companies in difficult market conditions (= most often the time periods when the metal prices are low). till capital periodically bought, sold, or held royalty interests and provided capital to mineral exploration companies, you know? thus my new average price for silver storm mining jumped up to 0.55 CAD. well, thats how the junior mining investments look like quite often. at least were these till acquisitions not completely worthless and SVRS with the newly acquired till properties could outplay my losses in the future 😑 ~ addendum 19/2025: i've bought few more SVRS shares at CAD 0.26 after i've spoke to the SVRS guys at the munich precious metals fair in october 2025 and thus reduced my average share price to CAD 0.489
  • alta copper (TSX: ATCU) ~ copper project in peru. i have few shares of alta copper already, which i've got after a chain of bankrcupcies / take-overs / M&A ... e.g. copper fox ... my average acquisition price is 2.80 CAD and the stock trades at 0.44 CAD today. that means i've lost 84% of the money invested and also lost the opportunity to invest that money smarter for many years. that is what i ment above telling ya i've lost that much money with junior mining aka roadshow companies before => anyway, i have bought few cheap shares of alta copper at 0.43 CAD few days after this road show and a month or two later even few more, thus i've reduced my average price from 2.80 to 0.59 CAD. let's hope it makes sense🍀~ addendum december 15th, 2025: today was alta copper overtaken by the australian mining and clean energy company fortescue ltd. (ASX: FMG) for an all-cash settlement at very favorable CAD 1.40 per alta share. there should be some approval at the alta shareholder meeting in january and some more time needed till this operation takes place, thus i've sold all 3,000 shares of alta at CAD 1.37 today with an overall profit of CAD 2,288 which is 1,414 EUR and 128% at capital invested before the 28% tax. profit on my new alta investments since april is logically even much higher. not bad for an investor lunch, is it? as fortescue seems to make nice profits + pays abt 6% in dividends, i've bought few shares of fortescue in australia and will observe its development in the next months & years.
many other companies did even worse than that or are already bankrupt today. unfortunately even 5 - 7 of my really big positions, especially silver + gold miners (not explorers!) like great panther silver + alexco mining + andover mining + americas gold and silver (former scorpio mining) + scorpio gold + jaguar mining + first mining gold + world copper + sterling mining + minco silver + ....
thanks goodness, there are also 4 companies which did really fine and they probably overweight the many brutal losses. it is 1) amerigo resources (copper + molybdenum in chile), 2) wheaton precious metals (former silver wheaton, a royalty company in the precious metals business), 3) hudbay minerals (copper in canada + peru + usa + australia (?). btw, i didnt invest in hudbay directly. i was shareholder of altona mining, which was taken over by copper mountain, which itself was taken over by hudbay) and 4) agnico eagle mines (gold in canada. btw, Ag silver + Ni nickel + Co cobalt = AGNICO, got it? 😄 well, i've got my biggest share blocks of agnico by its takeover of osisko mining in 2014 and of kirkland lake gold in 2022. few more shares also via detour gold, which was taken over by kirkland in 2020. i've owned also few shares of agnico directly, but by far not that many as via its osisko + kirkland acquisitions)
  • u.s. gold (NASDAQ: USAU) ~ no! it is not the former rob mcewen's company ... why not? rob mcewen changed the name to mcewen mining and dropped the old u.s. gold company name and the old website, so luke norman & his team took opportunity to grab it ... u.s. gold is an explorer / producer with gold / copper / silver projects in wyoming, idaho and nevada, usa ~ i've grabbed few shares at 9.23 USD incl. broker's fee
  • tocvan ventures (CSE: TOC, OTCQB: TCVNF, FSE: TV3) ~ a really really small silver explorer in the state of sonora, mexico. the share price looks much too high right now maybe as a result of the current roadshow, so i've placed a very low limit order for this stock. if it comes a little bit down i will probably increase my limit and buy it, even if there is almost no trading volume at all ... and most of the trading is done in germany, which is really strange for a canadian company ... it looks like if the company survives just thanks to its promotion to german investors ...~ my limit order at 0.60 CAD was fullfilled in june
  • silver one (TSXV: SVE) ~ a small silver explorer with projects in nevada, usa. luke norman is also here on the board, whatever that means ... let's put very few shares at 0.221 CAD incl. broker's fee in my portfolio ~ addendum december 18th, 2025: i've increased my positions at CAD 0.385 during the munich precious metals fair in october 2025. well, today i could sell half of my SVE position for CAD 0.59, so my remaining position of this junior-junior silver explorer company is a profit only holding for me 🍀
any conclusion out there? i've bought few more shares of avino and a small initial position in silver storm + u.s. gold + silver one + increased a litle bit my almost bankrupt alta copper stake (a day or two later) in order to watch the development of all these companies via my portfolio. i dont like to create watch lists, so i better invest few bucks and try to become familiar with all 'my' companies. of course, i do not comply too much when such an small investment gets lost completely. of course, if over time i thought a specific company is fine and i've put a lot of money into in, it hurts like hell, when it gets burst later (my most painful invetsments: great panther silver, americas gold and silver = former scorpio mining, tara gold, cuervo resources (copper), baja mining (copper), alderon iron ore, sterling mining (silver), andover mining, alexco resources, jaguar mining (gold), ....), you know? thx goodness, there are also many investments that growed well or were taken over by majors at a reasonable price (amerigo resources (copper), agnico eagle mines (gold) via few direct and investments and few takeovers, hudbay minerals (copper) via my altona mining & copper mountain investments, first majestic mining, wheaton precious metals ... and these sucessful investments at the moment outplay the heavy losses from the quite many bankrupt mining companies mentioned above

maybe just to enter the market cheaper, today was a catastrophic crashy day in the markets: silver was down 6%, dow jones 3.98%, S&P 500 4.83%, nasdaq 100 5.41%,m oil 5%, gold 1.5%, ... next day (friday) fell the markets even much worse. at least almost all stocks were cheaper than few days before and i've bought few shares of some of my favorites from the technology sector. btw, why all that current market crash?
A.) someone already knows usa is going to start a war against iran or the like (addendum august 2025: yep, there was the twelve-day war against iran in june 2025 when israel + USA attacked iran and iran responded bombing esp. israel's industry and cities of tel aviv + haifa ...)
B.) it also could be a reaction to president donald trump's tariffs which he plans to impose on many, many coutries which will reduce the world trade. trump calls it reciprocal tariffs (and means retributive justice?). you know what? if you asked me, he mixes up tariffs with trade deficits as the most countries from his board do not impose such tariffs on u.s. goods & services (e.g. serbia does not have 74% tariffs on u.s. products, but it has 74% trade surplus with usa 😇)

just in case you asked yourself in what kind of business i will invest in my next life, it will be technology stocks like google, amazon, nvidia, facebook, sap, oracle, microsoft, .... or i will invest my time, money and energy in s.th. more related to 'save the nature' + people + family + relationships 💕

timmins gold

a nice investor lunch with timmins gold corp (TSX : TMM, NYSE MKT : TGD) in the hotel bayerischer hof in munich ....
well, here just few highlights, i hope i will get an interview with timmins' CEO bruce bragagnolo as embed code soon :-)
  • low cost gold producer in northern mexico
  • yearly production of approx 120,000 ounces from its san francisco mine in the state of sonora, mexico (150 km north of the state capital hermosillo)
  • profitable, cash position circa $44m
  • debt circa $8m => at the end of 2014 probably debt free
  • cash costs per ounce approx $800, all-in-costs approx $1,000
  • current gold price approx $1,300 per ounce ... => for mathematicians among us: a gold price increase by $300 would double timmins' profits
  • i've bought few shares + subscribed for the investors newsletter, so let's see how the gold price and the timmins share price will develop in the future
  • etc
friends, please don't forget, gold + silver are the big enemies of the fraudulent fiat money system, so let's support them a little bit ... how? i've simply exchanged some paper for gold aka #timminsgold. and yes, my wife is like me .... she exchanded paper money for golden earrings yesterday

well, i've got the embed code of the CEO interview from the swiss resource capital guys => enjoy :-) .... or watch HERE (in case of any plug-in/ flash player problems and the like)

SilverCrest mines (SVL) ~ investor lunch +++ primero mining (PPP)

santa elena mine, source: http://silvercrestmines.com/

well, SilverCrest mines is a GOLD + silver producer in mexico (2m Ag-equivalent ounces a year, 3/4 of what is currently generated by gold), makes profits, generates cash-flow, forces exploration, the mngmt is highly involved itself which is prolly a good sign for the remaining shareholders like me as well, vancouver based canadian company with market-cap of CAD 177m, eric sprott's investment company is the biggest single shareholder, low cash costs at $5.85 per 1 oz silver in last quarter and projected cash costs of approx $8 on average over the mine life .... btw, 2014 should be the year when the second mine goes into production and SLV should become a 4m Ag ounces producer a year by then ...

in sum, imho is silvercrest one of the companies which gonna survive the current slaughter in the junior commodity companies sector ... why? they simply dont need money to continue operations and in the worst case scenario they could finance the planned exploration / mine development out of their cash-flow or simply postpone the development of the 2nd mine ...

anything else? yep, the companies often compare their own market-cap / share price to well selected peer group in order 2 show how undervalued they are, u know? well, there was only 1 company even cheaper / more undervalued than silvercrest: primero mining. of course, ive bought few shares of primero today (primero is as well already a gold / silver producing company (in mexico) with strong cash-flow, low debt, etc and so on ;-)

go gold/silver bucks, go!

great panther silver

great update on great panther silver (TSX: GPR) 2day ... any details? despite the current share price which is down approx 50% from the level it was at a year ago everything looks fine @great panther ... and yes, silver was close to $50 per ounce then instead of the current $32, hmmmmm ....
  • 2 producing silver mines in central mexico
  • profitable
  • $40m cash
  • steady rising production, earnings, profits, ... what abt steady rising share price? haha, 2 nice 2 be true, isnt it?
  • stable political jurisdiction
  • growth through expansion of own activities and/or acquisition ... just in case u asked yourself what is the $40m cash for ;-)
  • moving from junior 2 mid-tier silver producer soon (5m ounces a year)
  • GPR = 74% Ag + 20% Au + 6% Pb & Zn

of course, the CEO bob archer answered not only questions abt the company itself but also abt equity markets, silver, gold, ... btw, what do u think would the price of silver be if there was no investment demand (ie only industrial supply + demand pattern)? any idea out there what level bob thought abt?

meow, miau ;-)

investor lunch with vista gold 2day ...

a near term gold + silver producer in mexico + australia, a royalty interest in bolivia, 30% owner of midas gold corp, early stage projects in california / usa + indonesia, no debt, some cash, $125m worth of midas gold stock package, ... anyway, one of their properties in mexico (baha california) is their 'problem child' as the CEO mike told us cos of some environmental permitting issues ...

hell! poor me, all of my children are 'problem children', arent they? pls dont tell me that something always stays in the genes, my dear ... i fear it could be true :-)

so what 2 do? easy, same procedure as usual: ive bought few shares, applied 4 companys newsletter, gonna follow them on twitter / facebook / real life ... damn, ive again bought too expensive (at market opening) cos the gold & silver & mining stocks markets collapsed 2day again ;-( ... unfortunately, i mostly buy too expensive and often at market openings as i have no time + no patience to wait for the best possible entry and yes, ive sometimes also s.th. 2 do in my office job and thus cant wait for sale offers mr. market gives to the patient ... and on top i also dont have real time quotes (my broker charges it extra), so who cares? well, lets call that 'plan your trade and trade your plan' ;-)

anything else? coming soon or never :-)

go gold bugs go and lets crash the fraudulent paper money system NOW

endeavour silver (TSX: EDR)

a nice update on endeavour silver's operations at their investor lunch event in munich 2day ... well, there is everything fine at endeavour (=one of my top 5 portfolio positions by current $$ value):
  • rising silver production from their 2 producing mines in mexico
  • falling cash costs (only $5.53 per ounce of silver)
  • rising cash flow
  • huuuge exploration program
  • no debt
  • and yes, 2011 is the very 1st year endeavour is going to make an overall profit. how did they manage to become a $1billion company by losing money each year? well, ive told ya before mining is a strange business, didnt i?
  • what abt dividends? well, they dont pay any yet, maybe next year, who knows? and yes, there was an metal 'dividend' this time, just look how pretty 1 oz Ag can be:
pls decide by yourself whats head whats tail, my dear ;-)
yep, the coin is different than the one from last 'dividend', isnt it?

endeavour silver (TSX:EDR)

addendum april 15th, 2014: i know what is the problem with the low, low, low gold + silver prices in 2013 + 2014, my dears. well, there was an investors' lunch event in munich few days ago and endeavour was also there. it was a nice update about the company, which mastered to reach a output of 6.8m ounces of silver in 2013, but you know what? two of its 3 mexican silver mines produce silver at all-in-cost around or even below the current silver price, which is $19.5 per ounce today. got it? there are producers who earn no money or even lose money to over-supply the market at these  low, low, low gold + silver prices. of course the price can't go up if there is sooooo much supply even at these levels. what will the producers do if the metal prices go up? probably complain that they have no gold/silver left as they've sold it so cheap in 2013 + 2014 ... supply + demand pattern, as so often in the long run

1oz silver from endeavour silver

what about the investors' lunch with endeavour silver representatives 2day? hmmmmmm, i think i'm rather the folk festival than the noble restaurant type of guy, you know? well, of course it was delicious, all that small portions on huge plates with funny decoration, tasty wine, etc.  ...

OMG! do u know what did i like most? the surprise gift ~ the nice company's 1 oz silver coin! well, i'm probably more an investor than a good eater :-). yabbadabbadooo, my growing collection of 'my' silver companies silver coins now includes:
  • endeavour silver
  • first majestic silver
  • scorpio mining
  • nevada pacific gold (that company doesn't exist any more! btw, do u think about old, old, old silver roman coins right now? do they still have any value? is silver better than paper? any other thoughts?)
what about endeavour silver? of course, i enjoyed the chance 2 meet the old-known-faces behind the company in munich again! of course, i own already few shares of that promising silver producer. of course, i increased my endeavour holdings after that damned crashy october 2008, so my position is +115.56% right now. what's the best? well, there is NOTHING TO WORRY about! they have 2 profitable operating silver mines, they are looking for the 3rd mine (exploration vs. acquisition), there is no further need to dilute the existing share base as the cash-flow provides enough money in order to finance future growth (unless there would be some major acquisition opportunity out there), the production records should continue further and, in the long term, the silver price increase could continue as well, so the share price should go up, isn't it?

so what to do? well, let's lean back + enjoy the company's development + the rising share price of that IMHO low-risk portfolio position + let's hope if there will be some significant company and/or market related price corrections on the road i will be wise enough and still solvent to increase my endeavour position on dips :-)

1oz silver, endeavour silver

addendum june 6th, 2010: folks, i've just bought few more shares of EDR (@ CAD 3.52) today. they've have been somehow stronger than their peer group in recent general market correction, let's interpret that as relative strength ... LOL

successful endeavours + good luck, my dear endeavour silver

#jarobuys silver producer scorpio mining AGAIN + linear gold + halo resources + moly mines + oroco res. + cardero res. :o)

hell, scorpio (TSX: SPM) was already my biggest position, but i've added few more shares 2day. why? the company's news flow is soooooo great, they've just bought a gold project in nevada (well, there must be lot of gold, i think, just look at few of my nevada based companies like u.s. gold, miranda gold, vg gold, coral gold, ... here and of course, do not forget the big ones like barrick, newmont, etc!) ... got it?... they've bought => they have money => they do not need any stupid financing, they can afford to expand their growth from own resources ... well, i guess their silver-zinc-lead-copper 'nuestra senora' mine in mexico produces enough cash for this kind of acquisitions, you know?

what abt mr. market? well, the stock is despite the right now soaring gold/silver prices down -1.52% => ??? => what's your guess, who is right this time?

a) me
b) mr. market
c) both
d) none of us

hell, that investment stuff is soooooo easy

addendum 01/13/2010:
yabbadabbadooo! folks, i've welcomed the crashy gold/silver prices the last 2 days and increased my scorpio minig position @ CAD 0.67 and CAD 0.68 a lot (at least a lot from my newly @ lynx brokers opened account's size perspective ) + entered a small initial position in linear gold (LRR @TSX). well, i could get linear gold quite cheap! folks, is there a chap/girl out there who would explain the strange behavior of scorpio mining 2 me? hell, they didn't break apart like the most companies in their peer group did (abt 7-15% down in 2 days) ... but they also do not go up now as their peers do right now ... and it is not abt the volume as the volume remains avarage except 5th of january, where there was maybe 7 to 10 times the average volume i think ,,, => any ideas out there?

addendum 01/18/2010:
OMG! just 2 trading days later! scorpio is +11.94% today! the volume was approx twice the usual amount! no news, of course :-). my guess?
1.) these many stupid folks who were willing to sell their scorpio shares that cheap are out of the market
2.) these few folks who want to increase/enter their positions understood that there will never be a cheaper share price out there, so they started to buy at current price and bid it up a little bit :-)

btw, i have bought a small initial position in an additional canadian microcap, the gold-copper-zinc explorer halo resources (TSX: HLO). why? well, i couldn't longer watch how my limit order is not going to be fullfilled and the share price is climbing higher & higher ... so i have increased my limit from CAD 0.05 to CAD 0.1 today and got few shares @ CAD 0.095 ... damn! of course, it is expensive like hell and close to the yesterday's new 52 weeks high and the like and so on ... but you know what? i had no money a month ago as halo traded @ CAD 0.05 because i've waited for the 'capitalization' of my new brokerage account and also bought other stuff and also hoped halo will come back into its former (lower) trading range, so what? well, if the share price should fell to CAD 0.06 or CAD 0.05 sometime in the future i will prolly buy few more shares ... if not? hmmmmm, i will enjoy the development of my current position i think :-)

addendum 02/06/2010: folks, in the last crashy week there were 3 more low-low-low buy limit orders hit and so i could get moly mines (molybdenum in australia), oroco resources (gold in mexico. btw, i got the shares @ CAD 0.22 despite the recent private placement in favor of management & insiders @ CAD 0.25 per share) and increased my stake in cardero resources (iron ore in peru)

hell, hell, hell! that investment stuff is soooooo damned easy

addendum 04/06/2010: i was right, mr. market was wrong, wrong, wrong :-)

yabbadabbdoooo! scorpio mining (SPM) is +20.3% today (a new much much much higher 52 weeks high!), ten times the usual volume, no news, of course! the latest news release 2 days ago deflagrated without any impact cos the stock traded +0.0% the whole day after the earnings message came out => markets are inefficient, of course!

euphoria, pls never go away from me (to the next investor / money manager / hedge fund / trader or the like) ...
